Let me continue my ranting spree. :)

Survivor is not all bad. Seasons 2 and 4 did real justice to the premise of the show, but the rest of them were pretty much trash.

The premise of the show is that 16 contestants are stranded in a remote location, and must undergo several challenges, winning for rewards and immunity. Each episode, one person gets voted off, until the end, where just one remains.

I have never watched Season 1 of Survivor, so I can't comment on that, but Season 2 was the bomb - drama, true emotional appeal, and excitement. It's a classic combination, and it worked. Season 3, Survivor: Africa, was the pits. It was horrible. Take 16 whining, uninspiring people and put them in the middle of nowhere, and you have pathetic attempts at drama and some crocodile tears.

All was not lost though - not yet! Survivor: Marquesas, in my opinion the best season so far, revived the show. Some new rules were created - past voting no longer counts, no food and water are supplied, and so on. Not bad, I thought.

From then on, however, the show went downhill. I don't know about the situation in India, but in Vancouver, where I live, the show has lost all appeal. It seems that CBS is doing nothing but dishing out season after season, making a few changes here, trimming some details there - and voila! Another pathetic excuse for reality TV is born. The latest season - The Battle of the Sexes, is nothing but a lame attempt at attracting ratings by promoting sex appeal. Nothing interesting here at all.

Like all good things that go bad, Survivor started off on good feet, then became a little shaky, and has now all but collapsed. As far as I hear, more and more seasons are on the way - one big moneymaking venture - but I certainly won't be watching them. It had my interest at first, but that interest has now fizzled out and died.

Adieu, Survivor.
