Surabhi, Where are you ?. Review on Surabhi

DD1 has its own whims and fancies, I think, otherwise why should an excellent serial like Surabhi be discontinued ? I have said through MS Reviews elsewhere that DD never thinks about the audience preferences. In other words it always takes the audience for granted. The serial Surabhi used to be aired independently, and later on it was sponsored by Amul, and was rechristened as Amul Surabhi. The attractive and brilliant Renuka Sahane and Siddharta Kak, always in attractive and tasteful Indian attire used to take us to different parts of India and abroad through their intelligent and meaningful dialogue. Amul Surabhi's visuals have always been not only supportive, but very imaginatively chosen. Its signature tune with animated visuals used to create the right meed in the viewers. Renuka, by her academic training is a Psychiatrist. She is very pretty, although not very beautiful, and like Sakshi (Parvati) in Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, she is very expressive. Her eyes speak volumes, and she looks extremely beautiful with tears in her eyes. In Kora Kagaz, she has proved her worth and mettle as an actress of promise. Siddharta Kak, a Kashmiri by birth is very sensitive to Indian cultural heritage, and this aspect is amply projected in his discussions with Renuka. Both of them manage to see that their discussions do not go above the heads of the captive audience. After Renuka became busy in other serials, another Marathi girl, an actress turned anchor person, Irawati Hershe, took over Renuka's place and did very well. What a pity, such an educative and entertaining serial is not screened. Will Prasar Bharati and DD kindly think of the audience and do the needful, so that we are again able to see Amul Surabhi ?
