Before Jaipan FM 1300 we had a Sumeet Mixer, which was fairly equal in functioning and features. Jaipan comes with 3 blades for dry and wet grinding blade and whipping. Two attachments for mixing and grinding are provided with the main unit. Bigger one can be used for grinding purpose and the small is used as a chutney attachment or simply a liquidizer. The color of the mixer was white. You if you want a juicer attachment in addition to the provided jars you can look for other models or simply buy one for additional 300 Rs. or so. Neither Jaipan not Sumeet had the juicer attachment. So you can classify that as a con or simply note this before buying.
The only reason we exchanged Sumeet for Jaipan was for the change or the old one had become too old, the dome had become very dirty and the color started to wear off.The functioning wasn’t smooth as expected and with slightly over stuffing , which would be normal under standard specification caused overloading. This was happening frequently so we bought Jaipan. I’m not defaming the Sumeet but telling you the fact that it had become too old and passed its limit of durability. For years of service it has given and was still giving with some problems can only be said great mixer. This model was cheap in cost as compared to new Jaipan FM 1300.
The product set has following parts,
1) Main Unit
2) One Grinding Jar
3) One Liquidizer and a Chutney attachment
4) Four Blades for grinding and whipping
5) One Spatula (With a Spanner in the handle part or at the other end of the blade side for blade fixing)
6) Additional Juicer attachment
Four blades are provided for different kind of grinding and mixing needs viz. dry, wet and whipping (cream, cold coffee). In southern parts of India rice based food items are popular like Idli, Dosa etc. Grinded mixture of soked dal and rice are need for the preparation of these items. This comes under Wet grinding and an appropriate blade needs to be used. Other examples of wet grinding are the wet Chutney having coconut as one of its main element. Coconut is one of the major ingredients of the food in western Konkan region. I’m sure are hundred and thousands of other examples of wet grinding. The Jaipan equivalent had a grater blade for wet grinding.
For tough grinding of spices, wheat, coffee beans, rice etc. a Dry grinding blade is provided. An example of dry grinding is making Garam masals in which lots of spices like mace, cumin seed, coriander seed etc. are grinded together to make an central ingredient of Indian food.
A I mentioned earlier for whipping soft, liquid items a whipping blade is provided. Hot and Clod Coffee, Cream, butter can be made with this blade. One more famous example is making buttermilk or lassi, which is famous drink of northern part of India. Cleaning can be a headache with wet or liquid mixing. It’s really difficult to clean the sticky elements like butter, cream. Removing the blade and then cleaning would make it easy.
Coming to the main features of the mixer, the mixer is equipped with Circuit Breaker or an Overload Protector to protect the mixer motor from the heavy load of the stuffed in food items. When the mixer is overloaded with grinding material in jar the motor is burnt because of the heavy load upon the motor. But the Circuit breaker device saves the motor from possible damage by burnouts. When overloading occurs the mixer stops working because of the breaking of circuit. A special pin rod it provided below the mixer, which comes out as an indication of the overload. To sort out the problem disconnect the machine; remove the excessively filled steel jar. Remove necessary the material out it, put it back again and press the red button. Now the circuit is sort of reset and the functioning is restored. Apart from overloading a care should be taken as not to run the mixer without any load.
Mixer comes with a year guarantee against the manufacturing defects and motor. I don’t think you will ever need to use it since the mixer has lasted for years together in a good condition.
