Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s voice is magic and we bet that his fans will not be disappointed with Jag Ghoomeya. This song was to be originally crooned by Arijit Singh. However, Rahat makes this number his own and he transports you to a different zone with his vocals. The song however has a heard-it-before affect, blame it on Fateh Ali Khan’s choice of songs in the past.

But one thing is for sure that when Rahat will playback for Salman there will be no two thoughts about the audience not enjoying this number. Sultan(Salman Khan), a 40-year-old former wrestler, has seen the highs and lows of life. Going into flashback, we are introduced to Sultan’s younger self at a time when nobody could beat him in a sprint. A chance meeting with Aarfa(Anushka Sharma), an ambitious wrestler eyeing the Olympic gold, ignites a fiery passion in Sultan’s life.

In that instant we know that Sultan is about to push twin boundaries. Of a star’s scope, and of mainstream Bollywood. That this will not be the super-human, super-hero Bhai who has been shown crossing the tracks just a whisker ahead of a rushing locomotive from one of his several forgettable flicks. That this will be a Khan who has to, literally, do a lot of heavy-lifting to win the crown.

Being not just a sports drama, Sultan also has an equally action-packed leading lady. Anushka Sharma too portrays the role of a wrestler, by the name of Aarfa. Her hard-work is quite evident in the trailer itself.

We are also introduced to the characters of Amit Sadh and Randeep Hooda in the film. Randeep will be seen as a coach who trains Sultan after the once legendary player has lost touch of the sport.

Overall, the Sultan trailer promises entertainment without making any tall claims about a pitch perfect story. The makers probably know, however cliched it may be, this is by far the most challenging role Salman has taken in recent times. A tad bit longer trailer seems to be a give away, I hope some major twist still remains to be told!

Salman’s Haryanvi accent seems okay in the trailer but it will be important to see how well he maintains it throughout the film.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar who previously helmed two average films, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Gunday, seems more confident now with his camera. The ‘Akhada’ scenes look great in the trailer and could make up for a great watch in theaters.
