I advertised on Sulekha.com for my property at Hyderabad which I wanted to rent out. First I selected the free advertisement option and later upgraded to premium option of advertising.
My expectations were that my advertisement will be among the first ones to show up when anyone searches for available properties in the area where my property is located. This is what I read on their website FAQs section.
However, Sulekha.com smartly hides the order in which paid advertisements are displayed. Sulekha.com complicit with property dealers and brokers and always show ads first that are posted by such agents. Usually, such ads are called sponsored ads.
There is no mention on Sulekha.com that sponsored ads will be displayed before all other ads. Also, no option is provided to individual user to post such an advertisement and THAT IS AN UNFAIR TREATMENT.
Sulekha.com customer representatives are also NON-TRANSPARENT on this fact. They told me that premium ad extends the life of your advertisement to 60 days from 30 days.
Who would pay more than Rs 700 for just this feature. I wish craigslist.org was popular in India which is free of such non-sense.
