I along with my family visited Chandigarh last year in the month of April. This was our first visit to Chandigarh. In fact, it was our first visit in the last five years to any place.
We reached Chandigarh from Delhi by Shatabdi Express at around 11:30 AM. We hired an auto and reached our hotel in Sector 26. After having lunch, we moved out at around 3:00 PM to visit Sukhna Lake. We hired an auto and reached there in 15 minutes.
This was our first visit to any lake. The environment there was very peaceful and pleasing. Boats were available for hire by the Chandigarh tourist department. We hired a pedal boat for four persons and got the same without any wait.
The boat was in good condition. We were able to pedal the boat easily and could easily change the direction of the boat the way we wanted. The water in the lake was clean. As the lake was big, the people were taking their boats far away. Of course, there were boundary indicators beyond which boats were not allowed.
We thoroughly enjoyed boating in Sukhna Lake and it became our memorable experience. We strongly recommend that all visitors must visit Sukhna Lake whenever they get a chance to visit Chandigarh.
