GOOD LUCK for your future

Though was conceived in 2006 and became operational in 2008. We made an effort in these two years to try and understand what it would take for a student to transform from an average scorer to an outstanding scorer. And how a school student can shed the fear of Math. What we gathered is that being good at Math is like developing a skill - like cycling and swimming and NOT a knowledge subject like History or Science. Unfortunately most students treat it like a body of knowledge. We figured that math can only be mastered by practice and experience just like the skill of swimming or cycling.

History of TalentBarometerWhat triggered us into action:

One of the cofounders of the company Mr. Kamal Rastogi has a daughter studying in class 10th ( appearing for her class X exams in 2009 ). In the past years whenever she was about to appear for her final exams ( of class 7th , 8th , 9th etc.) she would ask her father to come home early and clear "some" of her confusion and doubts on certain aspects of math. While working with her Kamal Rastogi learnt that there were several "more" gaps in her ability to solve math problems, for which she was not even aware , and just before the exams it was just too late in the day to inform her , clarify and get enough practice. The best solution to this, he thought, would be to identify the gaps in concepts as and when a topic is taught in school ...throughout the school year, than to find out just before the exams or post exams through poor grades.

Another need Kamal Rastogi has understood is that parents are often not aware of these gaps. They learn of this either when the child asks for help (often the day before the exam ) or when the report card comes home. For working parents this is a bigger challenge..owing to their busy schedule ( a lot more difficult when both parents are working ).

So he thought why not devise an information system, wherein a regular weekly email would communicate the performance score to both the student and the parents. With this the parent would be aware of the gaps in the ward's knowledge/concepts throughout the year. This enables them to take action regularly rather than feeling help less at the time of exams or post exams. The mail would also give weekly reminders to parents and student if the student does not attempt the tests. They can call and speak to the ward from their office or from outstation (when on tour) and encourage their child to take the tests on regular basis.
