I first experienced Subz last year(2013) around March, when my colleague organized a farewell party there. I have been in Bangalore for almost 14 years but never experienced such a vast spread of vegetarian delicacies in a single place.
Before the recent price hike, the buffet lunch used to cost Rs.230 per person(now Rs.269) for weekdays, and Rs.320 per person for weekends(not sure what it is now). For such a reasonable price, they offered 2 varieties of soups, almost 6-7 starters, 8-9 desserts, and several nicely prepared main course dishes(rotis, 2 types of rice, noodles, chinese gravy, 2-3 north Indian gravy, daal, sambhar, rasam, etc.), Chaats, and other accompaniments(like papads, salads, pickles, etc.)
The best part about this place was that the waiters and managers didn't stand on your head to count what you are eating and how much you are eating. If you like any items, you can walk over to the counter and get it as many times as you want. If you are a buffet-freak, you will know that many restaurants just offer it for the sake of earning quick money but they neither offer choices nor allow diners to eat properly(if some dishes are getting over quickly, they won't refill those dishes).
No such problems with this place. There is a large variety of dishes and one can eat as much as he wants. They also don't seem to mind people taking time to finish their lunch(on all my visits with friends and family, we took around 45 to 70 minutes, gossiping, and eating our food happily). Only when you signal the waiter, he will come and give you the bill(not like other places that put the bill while you are eating, basically a rude way of telling you finish and leave quickly).
Recently, there is a little decline in service and the prices have also been increased. Now, the restaurant doesn't accept reservation from 12:30 PM onwards(the staff flatly refuses saying it is first come, first serve). Also, they have stopped serving starters on the table(which was a big plus because you got fresh starters from tandoor to table). So, the quality of starters has gone down a bit.
It is still a very good option for vegetarians because no restaurant offers so much variety and an environment to eat the delicacies in peace.
