I'd heard rumors about this movie and listened to the songs, but the idea of going for it never occurred to me. Perhaps the two boys-one girl love triangle idea which has been tried and tested several times- not very successfully most of the time- never appealed to me. but I went for it, out of sheer desperation for some entertainment with a bunch of girlfriends, and was I sorry!

Set in St Teresa's, a prestigious school in Dehradun, this movie is the tedious story of Rohan Nanda, son of a business tycoon, Abhimanyu Singh, a middle class boy belonging to a family with just enough money to make ends meet, and their object of infatuation Shanaya Singhania, classic spoilt rich-bitch (pardon my language). Shanaya is displeased with her boyfriend Rohan who spends all his time with other girls, most notably Sana Saeed as Tanya. Shanaya remains depressed due to this (the thought of breaking up with him never occurs to her) and Abhimanyu's job is to cheer up his best friend's girlfriend with whom he falls in love. She reciprocates his feelings, and in the background is the student of the year competition. Who wins the competition and Shanaya's heart forms the rest of the movie.

Let's start with the positives- the songs are excellent, even Shanaya's entry which is a remixed version of the evergreen song "Gulabi Aankhein Jo Teri Dekhi". From Kukkad all the way to the Disco Song, each and every song is lively and has a great tune. Rishi Kapoor as the gay dean is the only part of the movie which was humorous. Alia Bhatt (as Shanaya Singhania) is cute and has a lovely smile (not the pout, the smile) but her acting skills need some major brushing up. Sidharth Malhotra (as Abhimanyu Singh) was quite good, he looked charming and acted well. Varun Dhawan (as Rohan Nanda) steals the show. He looked suave and stylish, looked handsome and is a talented actor.

The movie however, drags on endlessly with the characters droning on and on in a head ache inducing manner. the incongruousness lies in the fact that in no schools in India do girls wear short dresses and stilettos. St Teresa's- oh sorry! "St T's" is not a school for education, but a school for drama. And I mean drama in the literal sense of the word.

In my point of view- if you're planning to acquire this movie and watch it- don't. It's not worth it.
