Stella Artois has been making beer for 600 years when Belgium was the Duchy of Levensian. I often order it when I'm out but have never bought it by the bottle or in a 6 pack.

I have been felling so sad that my husband took me out to our local pub to buy me a pint of beer. He can't drink so he ordered Seven Up with a slice of lemon in it to make it look like he was drinking.

After I ordered the beer I watch the bartender. He seems to have a ritual for pouring the beer.

He cleaned the glass with a non-fat detergent and then he rinsed it with cold water. This made the glass as cold as the beer.

He opened the tap on the keg and in one fast motion let the first foam to flow down the drain. He told us that it must never be poured into the glass, because it would stop the beer from tasting fresh.

He held the glass at a 45 degree angle. When the beer began to be poured into the glass it began to circulate and that created a mixture of beer on the bottom and foam on the top.

T he foam is called the head. The natural creation of foam by lowering and then straightening the glass. He said it was important to do it this way to prevent the beer from contacting the air and losing it's flavor.

In one grand swoop he closed the tap and took the glass away from it. It would be a terrible thing if even one drop when into your glass because they came in contact with the air and oxidized.

He told us he was going to behead the beer while the foam was overflowing the glass. He took a knife and cut the foam at a 45 degree angle. This eliminates the larger bubbles in the foam and we don't want that to happen because these bubbles burst into flares because it was Memorial Day in the United States...ooops I mean they accelerate the evaporation of the head.

The correct amount of beer to foam is called the two finger rule. The foam should bee 3 centimeter thick to create a protective cap on over your beer. Before he served me my beer, he wiped my glass, (the outside and the bottom), with a paper towel to make sure he didn't leave any germs on the glass.

He put down a plastic maroon coaster that had a drip catcher at the base, and put the glass on the coaster. He looked at me and then the glass. He put on some thin rubber hospital gloves, picked up the glass, tilted his head, (so the lip of the glass never came near his lips), and poured some beer into his mouth. After he drank it, he looked and said, ''You'll enjoy it''.

Before he could put the glass down I grabbed the coaster and bopped him on the head. I said, ''I hope you like that!

Stella Artois is a lager and has 6.5 alcohol content. In Canada we serve all beer ice cold, because it is more refreshing. In the U.K. most beer is served warm and to me doesn't taste as good.

I love to eat pretzels or salted almonds when I drink this beer.

As it happened I did enjoy it. It is also they way I pour my beer, but I don't taste other peoples drinks.
