STUDENT LOANS (STATE BANK OF INDIA)

The printed Advertisement of SBI, This has some clouds in the main focus with

S B big crystal letters 7 or 8 inches in height and in the place of ''I'' this girl looking away from the camera wearing her graduation robe, cap and ribbon bound degree in her hand with a touch of faint smile on her face. But she is wearing a white robe inside. I wonder if the Indian student wears robes with their graduation dress, probably it is a night dress. This story board needs to be delved into further and details gathered, there are courses in Communication Sciences in Universities of the world. The best as per my knowledge is Syracuse University, New York, this University is famous for their PG diplomas, and they have a course especially for: Effects of Light and Shade, the play of light is essential to have a surreal and magical photograph. Don’t believe me see some of the works of still photographer Pico Iyer.

The Bachelor Degree is called (B.C.J) Bachelor of Communications and Journalism and Masters Degree is called Masters in Communication and Journalism. These courses teach all about Mass Communication Medias (Print Media, Visual Media) the students are taught theory of these Medias with case examples and some dissertations of well established masters in this field. They are also taught about workings of camera, presses, computers, VTR (Video Tape Recorders) Editing Machines, Audio technology applications etc., there are some desertions on effects on psychology of visuals, photos, print and other related things, they are taught the art of telegraphic language under science of advertisement, these are my general observations, they maybe deviant from reality to some degrees because of my illiteracy in media communication sciences.

This is a general outline I am giving as a filler to make body review wholesome and also to make this review on par with the brilliant people who has made mouthshut their recreational abode.

Changing tracks from jovial to serious Graduates of these arts come out equipped in the arts of making public opinion, sloganeering, the correspondents, the presenters, the editor-in-chiefs, info graphics in charge, photo desk managers, the hosts, voice modulation experts, roaming jolly fellows and embedded cameramen.

A best picture taken is in the angle of human eyesight. All pictures in this angle will have least resistance to seep into the memory of us laymen. Let me give you an example, how many of you can recollect Shakira (Singer) Whatever (Song) Video clip. See; See everyone got it without blinking even an eye that is an angle ideal to human sight. The very 1st time I saw that clip, I was amazed at the ingenuity of the cameraman. It’s his theory. Anyway all these are interrelated things and there is a branch called advertisement science.

Every Advertisement has a storyboard, the presentation, the visual retention quality and the message. We all have a attention span of roughly 7 minutes if a long write up don’t grab us, within this period we loose interest in that write up and 7 seconds attention span for short term visuals impact, this is taught in B.Ed (Bachelor Education) courses specially to nursery teachers to bring the attention of kids towards the teacher etc., to grab the attention there is a bang, then the focus and then the message and elaboration.

Coming back to the SBI student loan advertisement, the choice of model is cool, she looks like a student not like grease painted model doing her job, that’s original, and her freshness of face is a positive student prompt. Don’t you agree students are fresh of faces and fresh of minds, there is only one aspect this advertisement is bad; it is its light and shade quality. The slogan (I have a dream and I have the power to make it true) seems alright for a student loan subject. A person lacking funds for studies may think it’s a dream to have a way to finance studies. There is creativity in putting the model in place of the ''I'' of the SBI. This ad is very good except that the nagging feeling that the girls face should have been highlighted.

I want to identify myself with Abhishek Bacchan, so I go get myself an Abhishek haircut or a jacket he wears most. This is my hook of fancy for him. All students could have had this hook to hang on to this girl, if the face was a little more defined and highlighted properly. The SBI trademark says 200 years and in fine print ''taking your trust forward'' is a superb slogan, should be in bold and very bold. Instead of saying (conditions apply. The sanctioning of loans is at the discretion of SBI) it’s unnecessary, it’s their money, they will give it to whoever they want to give it to. A sound business practice and they have rules to follow. Instead they could say details are a click away or phone call away.

My ratings of this AD on a scale of 10 are 8.5.

Yo India quality has a say on MOUTHSHUT.
