Recently I opened an account with State Bank of India, the bank with the tagline "The banker to every Indian."
At the beginning itself, I hit roadblocks. To open an account they asked me to approach customer service center which is away from the bank premises. They asked Rs.50/- for facilitating this.
Later in the bank, while processing the application, they gave another form for insurance and asked me to remit Rs.500/- which is apart from the minimum balance Rs.500/- . For ATM card, they said Rs.214 will be charged. During online banking, I found service charges being debited for NEFT transactions which is not so in other banks where I have accounts.
So I wonder the banker to every Indian is doing service or disservice??
