I, Suman Chakraborty, am a customer of State Bank of India since 2007. My home branch is Chakdah Town. For security reason I cannot provide my account no. SBI has started, everyone knows, charging for SMS alert service. They charge Rs.15 quarterly for this. But I don't get SMS of most of my transactions. I complained in their online system and also contacted the branch manager, but nothing improved.
Then I decided to stop the service and requested the manager to do the same with written application. But to my surprise they continue to charge my account for the service which has been stopped. I again visited my home branch and contacted the manager. He instead of solving the problem and advised me to resume the service saying "Rs. 60 per year is not a big matter." But I have to pay the rupees and he will not pay for me. However, he resumed the service. But still we I don't get sms of my transactions regularly.
They should have provided this free of cost. But they are charging the customer for it and cannot give proper service. Not only this, they have numerous charges. If one keeps Rs. 500 in his account and does not deposit more. He will find his balance coming down to zero within few years.
