Tried to look in the dictionary but could not find a more polite word for the action described herein. Unfortunate , but true !! Almost all the credit-card issuing banks are deliberately CHEATING their customers in this manner.
FACT 1 :
Your credit card statement carries a PAYMENT DUE DATE.
HSBC is more polite than other banks. They ask you to "Please make this payment by" .
FACT 2 :
If you drop your payment cheque in the banks' designated drop-box on the date so defined, it should - by all logic - be construed as "PAID BY DUE DATE"
How much time the bank takes "to process" your cheque (from that point on wards) or "the process" they employ in having the cheque/s realized should be least of your concern.
FACT 3 :
HOWEVER, as many of this forum's visitors may have experienced time and again, a SURCHARGE for "late payment" is levied every now and then ...... unless you have dropped your cheque "early".
SOLUTION ( but, why should they ?) ::
Why, indeed, should the bank /s not "incorporate" their processing time ( this, again, varies from bank to bank ) into their "PAYMENT DUE DATE" (and)
instead of asking the card-holder to pay by 10/xyz/2007 they can very well ask to pay by 6/xyz/2007 or whatever .
Isn't this just PLAIN COMMON SENSE ?
