We went on a 2-night cruse to Halong Bay over the 2016 New Year.
Service is very poor. The cabins are in very rusty, rundown condition. All the windows are very dirty, to the extent it is impossible to enjoy the scenery through windows.
It is very much catered to Chinese tourists. The whole ship is like a shopping mall, even the hallways are filled with booth selling stuff. There isn't even a library, where you can spend some quiet time reading books/newspapers, sip coffee, or enjoy scenery.
On-shore excursion is a joke. We didn't want to bundle shopping with our excursion. Even though there was an option on paper meeting our needs, we were repeatedly told not to pick that option because not enough people would be picking that option to meet the minimum requirement. We were forced to pick the more expensive option with shopping bundled.
