Star Ananda the multihued and charismatic presentation of Star TV in Association with ABP Group has created an everlasting impact on our minds as in all stages, but now it seems it has reached the climax and attained the saturation point so as to degrade itself a bit. It’s latest episodes of “Jaal Chhire Mukhe” involving Orkut members, seems an inapt way to gain TRP ratings by defaming an individual with very unconvincing and incomplete analysis of the issue.…perhaps in this consolation that it won’t create ripples of dissatisfaction in the minds of those audiences who had been the pillar of success for them in whatever they do.
I am an avid fan of this television news network and have always felt pride in having such a news channel in Bengali. They have a perfect team of news reporters, correspondents and news readers and have ruled the roost in whatever they have done because of the immense trust we the audiences have on them……but yesterday at 11 p.m while watching “Star Khobor” I noticed that they were on a discussion about a sensitive issue regarding somebody’s pseudo attempt to defame our respectable chief minister Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya.
The so called accused was already there where the reporter Suman De was in an interrogation with him, I donno whether it was live or not but I guess it was a good attempt on the part of the media to get immense Publicity out of it. But then again its true that this time also Star Ananda had given the accused the opportunity to showcase his thoughts and intentions. Yes he was brought in the studio to make him speak on the unfortunate happening accompanied by a psychologist to analyse the exact motive but the thing I could get was he was made to speak as less as possible being burdened with too much of accusations at a time.
No matter what the accused professional said it was eclipsed by the ruling technician’s voice who was determined to prove him wrong. I am not saying he was not wrong but the reasons the concerned technician gave seemed to be a bit dicey and was not convincing. Being a member of Orkut I must say the analysis of the technician was not at all convincing. He was repeating his words over and over again in an unconvincing way with a derogatory instinct with the accused as was relevant from his throw of words.
The boy had definitely degraded himself as a human being if at all he had done it but can any media house accuse him at large like that in public? Isn’t it inhuman in approaching him like that? After all it can’t be the platform to interrogate anybody…it’s the platform to cater news and not to trigger discontentment. They can definitely investigate but before the governmental authority had proved anybody wrong or have persecuted him to punishment how can they embarrass a human being like that or compel others believe that the accused was the criminal.
If the boy had done wrong he is to be punished but a media channel can’t be the platform to encash the accused’s voice of acceptance of crime in public? Why were they allowed to do that? Had our C. I. D Department resulted in such degeneration that media channels are coming up with the responsibility?
As a member of the society and the youth generation I would prefer to point out a news channel must not have done that to overrule the poor boy’s voice as if he was being compelled to acknowledge and accept his crime. However if the man is really guilty of Defaming the Chief Minister of a state it is the work of crime department to look into it and not the sole responsibility of the media channels. If however in near future it is proved that he was not guilty then will the news channel be able to recreate the social prestige that the boy will lose out after being openly interrogated and accused in public front?
God knows what we are leading into!
