Manhattan Platinum: Decent overall package

I have a Manhattan Platinum card with an add on card.


It initially came with a limit of about 1.5 lakhs.


What I felt as inconvenient wrt this card is:




  1. Online payment does not have the "Virtual Card" concept that HDFC has




  2. Customer care representative has given me wrong info wrt "Reduction in card limit" and "Change in billing date"




  3. Limited options for redemption of points (they had Big Bazaar coupons earlier but now that has been stopped)




  4. It now has an annual fee (Used to be free earlier)






The good points I feel are:




  1. The website now allows you to view a combined bill for my primary and add-on card. This makes it easy to understand the total payable for the month




  2. A 5% cashback at stores designated as departmental stores and for transactions above Rs.1000 [Transaction limit used to be Rs.500 earlier] (Though the cashback is limited to Rs.500 per month and Rs.200 per transaction)




  3. Earn 5 reward points for every Rs. 100 spent (for transactions not eligible for the cashback) (Minimum redemption is for 500 points)




  4. SMS alert which warns the user for high transactions. This is helpful for fraud protection. Generally the SMSs come as soon as the transaction takes place




  5. Payment of card due amount through NEFT transfer from most banks




  6. Verify by VISA option which asks for a password for online transactions




  7. I was able to reduce my limit by calling up customer care (They initially asked me for a written mail, but eventually made the change based on my phonecall alone)




  8. I was able to change my billing date which initially at an inconvenient date for me (The customer care person initially told me that is was not possible, but I was successful on my second request over phone))




  9. The card has no joining fee




  10. e-bill has been recently added. Once you opt for this, you can download previous bills directly from the site. Earlier the bill was only avaiableas an emailto your registered id.






Overall I feel it is a very good card. If anyone from Manhattan is listening and wants to make improvements please look at the 4 'inconvenient' points listed above.
