I was contacted by Standard chartered in 2011 for this card and I got the approved immediately for 23, 000 rs in 2011. I was offered a PL in the year 2013 for 65, 000 rs which I was convinced by a rep of their bank and she followed up with me continuously and coincidentally I had a situation where I said yes for the loan. I was paying the EMI without missing and when they had to send a new chip card they sent it to my old office address and when they came to know that my office is shifted without contacting my phone they cancelled my loan and card together. I was intimated d by a letter to my home asking me to pay the loan amount in full. I was surprised and I came to know that all this has happened because my office was shifted. They raised too much financial charges and fine charges because of this and when I contacted the customer care they told my loan will reinstated and I can continue my principle whatever left was carried, but the interest I paid for 2 years gone in waste and my interest rate was again from the beginning, because of this act I am going to lose 25, 000 at least.
I spoke to the customer care about it but you will never get any good response, all you will get it, we will escalate it and we will sort it but it will not be sorted. They will ask you to repeat the same story everytime you call them, over a period of time, you will get frustrated and you will stop calling them, yes, they will win by this ugliest method.
I decided to cancel the card but if I have to cancel then I also have to close the PL, I cannot cancel the card as my PL is in the middle, I took loan of 65, 000 in 2012 september, paid 75, 000 till now and still I have 36, 000 pending, at that point of time, my situation didn't help me to close the loan.
I stopped using the card frequently because I was totally against this bank, however, I use it for fuel at times. Using the card properly for the last 5 years, Feb 3rd week I received a letter from the bank regarding my credit limit, I thought they are increasing like any other bank, but for a surprise they reduced my limit to 10, 000, which really made me feel insulted. I actually made had some plans and thought I will use this card but two days before my purchase day this letter came. When I contacted the customer care they told me it is the bank's decision and we cannot answer for what bank did, it is how the system works, if you want please continue or cancel the card.
Now I have the ability to close the card and stop associating with Stan Chart.
Please do not go with this bank, they will wait for a chance to stab you with their super Interest & charges, Please do not take this card.
There have been instances where I have paid A4 interest charges of 300rs. 200 rs. when I call them to ask they will reverse the interest and apologize, but again you will see the same in the next month. Please avoid this bank all other banks are really okay but not this one.
