I remember buying goods from a Standard Chartered card worth some 1100 bucks, after which I never bothered to purchase anything again.
About six months and no statements later, I owed them 4200, and I had no idea why. Eventually I got tired of waiting for them to call or send statements, so I called and asked for statements coz I wanted to get the debt off my head.
This was in Oct'05 and April 2007 is almost over. I've written to them a million times since 2005, and have made numerous
phone calls. Once we actually got to a point where someone promised they'd send me the settlement letter. but I must've been a fool to have believed that.
Recently, I spoke to someone called Saurabh who's a Senior
manager for them in their "Colections" department, and he'promised' to
help, but didn't. It's been well over a week. I still have no statements and I owe them 12k - and I also get
collection calls from some pretty obscene people who call themselves
attorneys.
What the heck!
My experience has been horrible to say the least. And I don't think I mentioned the fact that they owe me money - their ATM times out and the transaction wasn't processed, but my account balance dropped. I had to actually threaten them with legal action for them to take it seriously. Of course they're still "Following up" on my case.
