Well a problem in changing jobs is that you have too many bank accounts. I currently have an salary account with Standard Chartered.
1) The internet banking service is good and I have an international debit card through which I can withdraw money from any visa ATM without paying any charges(it is a perk with the salary account).
2) Phone banking is really poor as I had to wait on an average 15 minutes to talk an bank executive.
3) Number of Standard Chartered ATM's are very few but my debit card allows withdrawal of money from any visa ATM without paying any charges and it is really great. Have used the same in 3 countries as of now. Not once payment was denied.
4) I didn't received account statements regularly and through internet banking you cannot see your account for last 90 days only(extremely poor since ICICI allows me check for last 3 years also). I requested for an old statement. Statement came in 7 days but my account was debited twice with statement charges. I had to write to customer care through internet banking and the charges got reversed in 10 days.
5) If I give an online instruction to open a fixed deposit it takes 5-7 days for them to execute the instruction. I do get the interest from the day I gave the instruction but it is a poor service.
6) Don't have any transaction password for added security. They recently launched a new internet banking portal which sends an sms to your phone verify the account you want to transfer the money too which is better then having nothing.
7) They charge Rs 99 for each transaction at branch so I am yet to visit my bank branch. My account was opened in my company office.
8) All the NEFT transfer happen same day and I did not had any problem in last 2 years.
Overall I am happy with the bank. It is one of the safe bank globally so I feel better keeping my money with then banks like Citibank.
I would recommend the bank to anybody who travels a lot since there debit card allows free transaction at any visa ATM. They do charge currency conversion charges but still you get better rate then any other mean of carrying foreign money.
