Recently I saw an advt on TV telecasted by SBI bank,in which a tourist guide shows foot mark of lion & excreta and tells the tourist about the false presence of Lion in that area (though actually all the marks are made by his own associates).


The message is beware of credit cards which project false pictures and promises and exploit customers.


Now I can assume why they have telecasted this advt?


I think they want to warn us regarding SCD credit cards.


How they people exploit customer is well shown by an episode I personally suffered.


This episode is presented below in chronological order:


1.I received Statement dated 25th Dec 2005 : Shows debited amount of one time special fee of Rs. 1999/- without taking my consent-whether am I interested in this offer or not?




  1. Made a complaint over customer care number 23733777 and asked them to reverse it immediately.It was reversed and shown in Statement dated 26th Jan 2006. However,simultaneously an yearly fee of Rs. 350/- debited in the same statement.




  2. I again contacted customer care number and requested the cancellation of my card.I gave reason that why should I pay annual fee when Citibank and ICICI had issued me life time free cards?In response, one lady executive called me up and assured me that this year these charges are going to be reversed and later on bank is also thinking to provide some life time free card facility.I agreed to keep the card.Unfortunately I forgot to remember the name of executive (Probably Poonam?) and date & time of call.




  3. However,even after that assurance I received next statement dated 26th Feb 2006 with same annual charges and late penalty!!




  4. Immediately,on 1/3/06 I called customer care at 3:10 PM and STRICTLY ORDERED the executive Mr. Manish to cancel the card.(Mind it it was second time I requested/ordered cancellation) with immediate effect.




  5. No body called me this time but when again I called the same executive to get the feedback,he told me that as per record somebody has already called me and I agreed to retain the card if annual fee is waived back and as per the latest statement all charges are reversed back.Matching with his statement all fee + late charges were reflected reversed back in the statement dated 26th March 2006.




  6. I thought matter is over but they people crossed the heights of shrewdness and finally once again debited an annual fee of Rs 2000/- + service tax in 25th April statement!!






I think all sequences are sufficient to tell motive of SCB bank to exploit customer by making false promises and extort money from him by any mean.


In my opinion it should be called as ‘Overt Cheating’.


So,pls take any credit card but not SCB!
