I spoke to somebody right after I got this mail, and I was promised a call back 2 months back. This is the mail I sent today.

Hi

I spoke to somebody on the number provided and she was supposed to get back to me with more details, however till date nobody has bothered and I made the call within a day or two getting this mail.

Let me explain the issue I have right now. I used to have a Credit Card from you and then I missed two payments as I was not in town and then you sent me payment notice and a notice saying that you have cancelled my card. When I came back I made the whole payment including late charges and interest. And you guys promised never to bother me again and said my account was closed for good.

Then out of the blue you guys send me this mail. When I called that number I was told there was a charge after I had closed my account for about three thousand. Now I cannot understand how the card could have been charged after you decided to close the account. And if you decided to activate it, why wasn't I informed. And I distinctly remember handing over the card to the guy who collected the last checks.

And another thing that strikes me as odd is that if the card had a charge on it, why I was not sent a statement till date. How come after 2 or 3 years you decide to let me know. My guess is that you were waiting for the 3000 to become 38000.

I have always considered Standard Chartered Bank to be an extremely customer friendly bank, I cannot think of a complaint I had as long as I was a customer.  Why are you guys dropping down to such low level tactics?

I want a detailed explanation on this fiasco, and I think if the collection department promises to call back with explanation, they should have the courtesy to do so. What is the catch this time, waiting for 38000 to become a million or something?

If you guys don't know how to do your job, let me know and I will go all the way up to your management.

Regards

What do you guys think now? Stay away from the bank..
