Title: Sri Anjaneyam Banner Karthikeya Entertainments Pvt Limited Cast Arjun, Nitin, Charmi, Prakash Raj, Ramyakrishna, Pilla Prasad, Ananth, Gouthamraju, Jogi brothers, Subhashini, LB Sriram, Vimalasri, Lavanya, Subbaraju and others Cinematography C Ramprasad Dialogues Radhakrishna Music Director Mani Sharma Lyrics Veturi, Seetharama Sastry Visual Effects Chakri (Galvanan) Editing KV Krishna Reddy Co-Producers Praveen, Raju, Giri, Babu Story, Screenplay, Director & Producer Krishna Vamsi Released Date July 24, 2004 Story Sree Anjaneyam is a unique and extravagant tale of the Monkey God and Man. Set in the rural backdrop, there comes an engineer with a service motif (Prakash Raj) and his wife (Ramyakrishna), who want to salvage the village from its perennial problem of water scarcity for drinking and irrigation as well. A plan is mooted to construct a dam in the nearby forest fringe catchments.

The villain ? Brahmam (Pilla Prasad), who lives big by exploiting the illiteracy and ignorance of the rural population is bent upon undoing the dam construction. One day the couple is on their way to the proposed reservoir site. The villain?s gang brutally murders the couple, and their little toddler escapes death, since he is unnoticed by the villains. As he wakes up, a little toy of Lord Anjaneya falls down, which does a real monkey carry away! The boy follows the ape as designed by the divine will ? to a nearby Hanuman temple.

Unaware of the boy?s whereabouts, the priesthood of the temple name the boy ? Anji (Nitin), who later becomes a staunch Anjaneya devotee and the mouth and soul of the villagers. Meanwhile, the villain comes to know that the temple surroundings are rich with granite blocks, so decides to bulldoze the structure, for which a black-magician wants the sacrifice of a chaste Brahmin, who happens to be Nitin. Such being the case, both the villain and the hero come to know of the past. The devotion of Anji moves Lord Anjaneya (Arjun), who takes the avatar of a mysterious man, visible only to the hero. How he helps his devotee realize his real purpose ? the construction of the dam, and win his heartthrob Padmavathi (Charmi). Naturally, the divine power wins. Watch this socio-fantasy for yourself.

Performance: Nitin played the role of rural youth Anji in a befitting manner, but still displaying his adolescent mannerisms now and then. However, the creative genius of Krishnavamsi molded his character as he willed and wished. He is energetic in fights department, lively in song numbers and playful in romantic scenes.

Nitin did portray enough moods when it demands devotional in nature. However, his dialogue delivery is a minus point. Arjun is cast in the role of Lord Hanuman, but appears in the form of a human. He enters the screen from the middle line and dominates the subject. Much humor is injected in his portrayal. At the same time, his characterization has much power and remains a good topic for discussion among the audience. His voice (dubbed by SPB) is impressive.

A situation is so cast in his role ? Arjun (Hanuman) acts through Nitin (his devotee). Charmi, who played the rough and tough village lass, has no good bearing in the storyline, but much of her performance is intended for the mass audience, who vouch for mix-masala ingredients.

The expose done by Charmi is unparallel at the present trend. She also had some dialogues to mutter ? of course in a vulgar meaning. Pilla Prasad?s villain role is impressive. Chandra Mohan did justice to the role of temple priest. LB Sriram and Goutham Raju provide not much comedy. Technical Details Story Krishnavamsi donned the stupendous role of three departments, besides undertaking the supervision of special effects. There is nothing new in the storyline. You have similar story, which portrays Lord Anjaneya as savior of his devotees, from the yesteryears ? Muthyala Muggu. The story defies logic, but can be ignored in view of its socio-fantasy deal. Music Mani Sharma?s music is impressive on the screen too.

Two songs show Charmi in her last degree of expose, remaining a plus point for pulling the mass audience ? diluting the sanctity of the divine atmosphere sometimes. ScreenPlay Screenplay is nagging during the first 40 minutes, but gradually balanced later. The second half is breathless; and the climax is superb, much to entertain the kids and family crowds. Direction Direction is good. He exerted the talents from the characters to the best of his ability. Cinematography Cinematography by Ramprasad comes as a good combination to Krishnavamsi?s imagination.

Other Departments The quality of graphics is the best considering the department so far in the Telugu industry. The movie happens to be the third movie in India to use Digital Grading (Digital Intermediate) and first south Indian film to use that technology ( Khakee , Lakshya in Bollywood ). The whole movie is scanned and color corrected at Prasad EFX , Mumbai. Special mention may be made to exposition of Paramjyothi (Vishwaroopa of Anjaneya), the crossing of a culvert (with Arjun as Anjaneya lifting Nitin as his devotee). The appearance of a mysterious snake and the scene showing the cosmos from a dizzy heights.

All these scenes are graphics, which came with superior quality, though the audience could very well detect them. Fights department is good. Verdict Sri Anjaneyam has the strength to be a winner as there has not been any mythological film of substance for a long time.
