Sri Krishna Sweets finally seems to have got it right with Rasam. Rasam offers hard to find food combined with great ambience, excellent service at a great value for money. The restaurant is a old bungalow converted tastefully with rustic wooden chairs, tables and spreads. The food is served in bronze cutlery to add to the charm. It houses the sweets outlet at the basement and the restaurant upstairs. Kids will enjoy seeing around the large framed antique pictures of Madras.
Kongunadu cuisine is known for distinct spices and Rasam has managed to maintain the authenticity. All dishes here are unique and you are not likely to come across many anywhere else in Chennai.
For starters, there are vadas and the usual Gobi 65. The soups are different as well; try the amla juice soup. Don't miss the Karupatti halwa for dessert - a souffle made with palm jagger instead of cane sugar.
