Yesterday, June 10th 09, my wife and I had the'honor' of attempting to have breakfast in this group's establishment near the North Railway Station.

How a veggie breakfast could turn out to be a total disaster is anybody's guess.

When we walked into the restaurant, the supervisor(not a steward or waiter), offered us the daily breakfast buffet.

We politely declined and inquired if we could order breakfast'A la Carte'.

A la Carte was available and since he happened to mention Puri Bhajji, we ordered that.

10 minutes into twiddling our thumbs and examining the ceiling, we did not even get a glass of water.

This was strange because there were only 3 other tables occupied and one individual seemed to be just holding up a wall while another seemed to be holding a counter in place with his elbow.

When I was able to catch the eye of the person who had taken our order, I pointed out to him that 15 minutes was a bit too much.He scurried off into the kitchen.

We lost sight of him ever since.

Another 5 minutes later, a waiter brought in the most miserable looking puriesthat I had ever seen.

*A bowl full of something that strongly resembled the debris of a flash flood accompanied the puries.

The waiter, on my query drew my attention to the bits of potato enmeshed in the debris and announced it as the bhajji.*

The puries were partly raw and could be molded into shapes. The only thing preventing this was the over burnt oil in which they were soaked.I just had to press down on the top most puri and the whole pile started oozing out enough oil to fry, God knows, how many puries.

30 minutes had already passed and we had to get along. Attempting to consume these puries was something we were not willing to risk.

Since none of the staff seemed to be free from their task of supporting walls and furniture, we had to go to one of them and tell him that we could not eat the stuff on the table and could we please have our bill for food not consumed.

We promptly got a bill for Rs.75/- for those unconsumed oil enriched puries and drowned bits of potato.

We also got an offer that if we wait for another 20 minutes the kitchen would cook us a batch of better puries.

Since we did not have 20 minutes to take the risk and since our tummies were not leadlined, we beat a rapid retreat and stepped into the BTH Northend cafeteria close by for a more decent meal.

This is the second time I have had a very negative experience here.

A third experience I would not risk having.
