SpongeBob Squarepants, for you uninitiated folks out there, is a half-hour animated series that airs on Nick, made up of two, eleven-minute episodes. SpongeBob (voiced by Tom Kenny) is a weirdly ageless man/boy/nerd who happens to be a pants-wearing sponge that lives in a pineapple under the sea in the town of Bikini Bottom.

SpongeBob SquarePants: ''Absorbent, yellow and porous is he,'' as the theme song explains. He's naive and excited all the time. He lives in a pineapple next to Squidward and Patrick. SpongeBob works as a fry cook at the Krusty Krab. He wakes every morning to the sound of a fog horn alarm clock. His favorite pass-time is jellyfishing.

Patrick Star: Patrick may not be the brightest star in the sea, but he's still SpongeBob's best friend. Patrick lives under a rock next to Squidward and SpongeBob. He's pink, he likes to eat, and he likes to go jellyfishing as well.

Squidward Tentacles: Squidward is SpongeBob's cynical and sarcastic neighbor. He plays the clarinet and boasts to be an exceptional artist. Squidward works the cash register at the Krusty Krab.

Mr. Krabs: Mr. Krabs owns and operates the Krusty Krab restaurant, home of the Krabby Patty. He's a sailor who worships money. His daughter Pearl, a whale, lives with him in their anchor-shaped home.

Sandy Cheeks: Sandy is a squirrel from Texas. She is also a good friend, and sparring partner, of SpongeBob's. She lives in a bubble dome and wears an astronaut suit out into the water, so she can breathe. She is an expert at karate and hibernates on schedule.

Gary: Gary is SpongeBob's pet snail, who meows like a cat. He sleeps on newspaper next to SpongeBob's bed.

Plankton: Plankton is the evil, tiny enemy who owns a failing restaurant called the Chum Bucket. He tirelessly tries to steal the recipe for Krabby Patties. He seeks to rule all of Bikini Bottom.Dwelling a few fathoms beneath the tropical isle of Bikini Atoll in the sub-surface city of Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob lives in a two-story pineapple. Instead of taking the logical approach to everyday challenges, SpongeBob approaches life in a wayward and unconventional way. Whether searching for the ultimate spatula to perfect his burger flipping technique at the Krusty Krab, or just hanging out with his best friend Patrick (an amiable starfish,) SpongeBob's good intentions and overzealous approach to life usually create chaos in his underwater world.

To conclude, Spongebob Squarepants is a show about the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, a lovable sea sponge. ''Spongebob Squarepants'' isn't just for kids. In fact, it's one of my favorite TV shows.
