''Spiderman, Spiderman, Does whatever a spider can.

Spins a web, any size. Catches thieves- just like flies.

Look out! Here comes the Spiderman.

Is he strong? Listen, bud. He's got radioactive blood.

Can he swing, from a thread? Take a look overhead.

Hey, there! There goes the Spiderman!

In the chill of night, at the scene of a crime,

like a streak of light, he arrives, just in time!''

Is the movie good? Yes it is - Go and check out the movie, presuming you have seen the 1st part (Guess the review is a tad bit late but this one I was wanting to write since the last few weeks and was plain lazy..)

About the movie

You have a Hero(Peter Parker-Tobey Maguire), a Heroine(Mary Jane-Kirsten Dunst), a Powerful Villain(Alfred Molina), Heartbreak, Emotion, Tears, Friends, Special affects, action & lots of warmth - perfect ingredients for a Blockbuster and thats what this is ...WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED?Considering all the movies playing across the world in the last 3 months - this is the best of the lot.

Peter Parker (Spiderman) is a pizza delivery boy who rides a funny scooter to make ends meet, he also attends college but his fav past-time is nailing criminals in Manhattan.

But despite being a hero, he is a failure. He loses his job, his college grades are slipping, he does not remember his birthday, his apartment rent is overdue, his friend Harry Osborn (James Franco) blames him for not disclosing the identity of Spiderman, her grandma has her own share of problems, his love is getting engaged to a hunk who has played football on the moon(with whom?) and he is worried that the ones he loves the most are the ones who are always hurt ..So what good is being a Hero ?? He cannot even express his love to Mary Jane as he feels his enemies might hurt her - tough life man.

SHOULD HE CONTINUE TO BE A HERO ?

He throws off his one & only Spidey costume but not before he also realises that his powers are waning. The scene where he gets down from the building using a lift in his spidey suit is a steal.

Meanwhile there's this good natured scientist Dr. Octavius whose experiment that fusion can work as a cheap source of energy goes topsy-turvy. Dr. Octavius's four powerful tentacles that are fused to his spine and have an AI of their own, take control of him after the experiment accident. To prove to the world that his experiments can deliver, he decides to re-setup his lab and in exchange for Spiderman he can get all the resources he wants from Osborn. The action begins and so do the special affects.

What makes it a watchable flick ?

''And then a Hero comes along, with a strength to carry on;

And you cast your fears aside, And you know you can survive;

So when you feel like hope is gone, Look inside you and be strong;

And you'll finally see the truth, That a hero lies in you !!''

Most of the 'Comic Hero' Hollywood movies focus more on the action part with dazzling special affects and pay less attention to the plot, characters & specially the human behind the Hero.

SPIDERMAN 2 does not fall in this genre. Our hero is a struggler, a loser perhaps, living in a rented one room apartment. He cannot hold on to a job - he wants to be loved and wants to be ordinary.

Yes you identify with Toby very well as the guy next door and same for Kirsten Dunst as the girl next door. They are not superstars or very handsome/beautiful - they have their problems and are not able to overcome them but they dream of making it big.

Few scenes will leave a lasting impression and none of these are actions scenes.

The confession of Peter to his Grandmother is well conceived & performed and so is her lecture about a hero to Peter - America needs people like this especially after 9/11.

The scene where Mary Jane kisses her fiance on the sofa tells us she misses the kiss of spiderman.

The look in her eyes when Peter does not turn up for the play, the look when Peter confesses his luv to her & confuses her further. And then again the agony, the pain is clearly seen in the restaurant scene where he would have most likely reversed his decision of luv ..

Acting is perfect and most of the characters gel in well. Music is neat and so are the special affects ..the plot weaves with the characters very well with superb timing of action and romance.

SOME -VES

# Well he seems to have only one suit!! Duh so what and that gets torn regularly ..and stitched back flawlessly!!

# Train action and Spiderman's loss of identity to nearly all he knows was a bit far fetched - thats my opinion

# But this is the masterpiece - it has always intrigued me to no end.

Spidey wears his costume underneath his civilian clothes, removes his clothes whenever a disaster strikes (god knows where he disposes his civilian clothes) and after the action seems to pick these clothes wear them and come back normal. With Superman I am able to accept this but with Spidey I find it a bit unacceptable (Yeah I know u r thinking this guy is mad but ....)

NOTE: DO NOT WATCH THIS FLICK ON IMAX-DOME LIKE I DID UNLESS YOU WANT A PAIN IN THE NECK. NOT TO TALK ABOUT THE ILL-MANAGED SEATING SYSTEM & PRICE OF TICKETS (225/-). LASTLY THIS FILM IS NOT DESIGNED FOR THE DOME FORMAT.
