I find that most of the reviews on Mouthshut are basically complaints. We tend to write when we are wronged by someone but fail to write a few words of appreceation when good and prompt service is provided. I have written my reviews of Indian, Go Air and much maligned Air Deccan earlier. I would like to air my views about Spice Jet today.

I booked my first tickets on SpiceJet on the very first morning their bookings opened for their inaugural flights. That was in May 2005 for flights in June. I booked about 10 tickets for BLR-DEL, DEL-BLR, PNQ-DEL, DEL-PNQ routes for the grand price of Rs. 99+221= Rs. 320 for each journey. On the due journey dates all the flights were boarded, there were minor delays, aircraft and the staff were all spic and span and at those prices who would complain.

Thereafter I have flown SpiceJet on a number of occasions and found the service prompt, reliable and courteous. The tickets are priced competitively and there are occasional discount offers which makes the prices more attractive. I did not experience any difficulty in online cancellation and then booking with the credit amount for next journey. Service over phone was also alright though I have no recent experience of this.

I would like to recall one incident at Jammu Airport.

Jammu is a very high security airport and you can not walk to the airport and buy a ticket. Entry to airport is controlled by Police and you are not permitted to enter without showing your ticket and identification. I had lost my printout but had PNR stored in my mobile phone. The police personnel at the entry permitted me after seeing the PNR detail, but at the next check point entry was refused. I requested the Police inspector present to allow me to go upto Spice jet counter, but that was also not permitted. Then I saw someone from Spicejet staff and requested him to get a print out for me. Within 5 minutes he came back with a print out and I was allowed to proceed for check in.

I was absolutely tired after just having returned from Mata VaishnoDevi yatra and this gesture by the Spicejet staff undoubtedly cheered me up.

My most recent flight was on october 17, 2008; DEL-BLR at 13-30 hrs and the one thing which could not be missed was the condition of the seats. Very shabby. State Govt bus seats are better.

Management should look into this aspect; the aircraft interior gives a look of neglect.

Overall, I would fly again with SpiceJet.
