Please don't fly them if our looking for a pleasent journey........this is an airline which doesn't care about anything else but grabbing your money.....Me and my friend were treated like two criminals when we refused to pay an unjust fine....they confescated our baggage and made us wait for 4 hrs at thier counter and repeated taunted us until we were forced to pay the fine. I will never let anyone I know travel via Spicejet.......so pls don't.


Have added a short narration writen by my friend about what exactly took place.


"Most of you are already aware of the Bangkok fiasco that happened to us (Cynthia and me). My handbag along with my passport, tickets, all our money, mobile and various other valuables was stolen right on the day of our return journey, and we were stranded for a further 2 days before we somehow managed to get out of there. Unfortunately, one of our friends had to leave before us on the planned date itself and in all the rush she forgot her hand baggage. When it was time for us to return, we were obviously skint and had no money to pay for any excess baggage…so we explained the whole thing to Thai airways who kindly understood our circumstances and allowed the baggage to pass through without levying a fine.


As our flight to Bangalore was rescheduled so was our connection flight from Bangalore to Chennai but unfortunately we could not get seats on Kingfisher and had to settle for Spicejet inspite of knowing that their standards were poor. We arrived in Bangalore at 11.30 at night and our connection was only at 5.10 in the evening but because of the lack of funds we just waited at the airport. In all this mess we ended up checking in late and the guy at the counter was very rude straight away, but we asked him to first listen to what we had been through and explained we couldn’t pay for excess baggage. But he told us that if we had checked in earlier he could have done a under hander but because we were late we had to pay an upfront fee of 2500, which we obviously didn’t have. He said we either paid now or signed a paper to say we would pay the fine in Chennai or miss our flight, so we were left with no choice but to sign a paper, however he did then take pity on us and promised to talk to his supervisor in the mean time and see if he could help wave the fine off.


We arrived in Chennai just to find that our luggage was confiscated and a representive of Spicejet, Mr. Deepak Kumar escorted us to their counter were we were treated like cheats who were trying to evade paying their fine. We explained what had happened from scratch and all we got back from Deepak was a cold answer, “We can’t help what happened to you, all we want is the fine madam”. I was obviously very disappointed that my own country’s airline was refusing to help and tried pleading to him but he just kept telling me that he doesn’t care if we have been through a distressing time, and that he will not release the baggage until we paid the fine. Then we tried speaking to the Duty Manager, Mr. Shashikanth who ended up being even ruder and infact said he does not believe that we had been through a tuff time inspite showing them the emergency certificate that the Indian embassy had issued to me and the FIR copy we had filed in Bangkok. When I pleaded to them that I had no money to even make a call to my parents to send me the money to pay them, Mr. Deepak said, “I’m sure you have some Thai Baht left on you, so go change it at the currency exchange counter and call your parents”. I then broke down crying out of sheer frustration and asked him why wasn’t spice jet empathizing with me and he told me that it’s not their business what happened or didn’t happen to me. I realized at this point that we were dealing with a set of heartless human beings and to my luck my friends mum called on her mobile and we some how managed to get her brother come to the airport with the money. So in the end they had made us wait at the counter for 4 hours and not one of them offered us even a seat…………..Spicejet…..all spice and no heart!!!!!


Spice jet was really rude and unmerciful to 2 women who had been through hell and we need to make sure they pay for their lack of Empathy or understanding. To top it off, their in flight service was equally pathetic.


Plsssssssssssssssss guys don’t fly Spicejet if you are looking for a pleasant journey. In the interest of saving others from this kind of treatment, pls pass this on to as many people as you can."
