I am quite adventurous as far as trying out new brands are concerned and I decided to try out Spice Jet this time for my trip to Kolkata.
I reached the airport about one and half hours before time(so that we do not get into the hassle of not getting our preferred seats) and we were informed at the counter that the flight which was originally scheduled for 4:15 pm has now been re-scheduled for 7:45 pm. And this is not due to some problem on that day but the timing of this flight itself has been changed. When we enquired as to why we did not get any e-mail or SMS from them, they coolly replied "we must have sent it".
This became a bit interesting when I pretended to get annoyed and asked for a documentaory evidence of this "must have been sent" e-mail. Suddenly an odious female named Rashmi(who is supposed to be the senior stewardess) rushed in and told us that the flight is now for 7:45 pm, an information which we already had. This lady also told us that if we are not comfortable, she can put us into an evening flight. This was rather surprising as the lady at the counter told us that there are no flights to Kolkata before 7:45.
Nevertheless, we again went to the counter and got the same reply from the lady at the counter. She was genuinely puzzled about this mysterious "evening flight" where we are to be accommodated. I went back to Ms Rashmi and enquired about this curious flight. Lo and behold - this lady told me that the evening flight in question is the 7:45 pm flight! I did not know whether to get angry or to laugh at the ridiculousness of the answer.
The flight fortunately took off on time. Being a low cost airlines, they do not give you any toffees or chocolates. We asked for cotton and was promptly told that cotton is not available(though we managed to get someone by coaxing). They have a long list of food items which are supposed to be available on chargeable basis. In reality, very few of these are actually available. Even from the frugal list of what was available, almost everything got consumed by the time the cart came to the middle of the flight and most of the people had to be satisfied with a small packet of cashewnut. I was amongst the lucky few who had a full meal(albiet vegetarian though I wanted to have non-veg).
To be completely fair, the food was tasty. I asked for a second cup of tea and was promptly denied the same
