This was the worst experience of mine on any flight I have ever flown and I WOULD RECOMMEND PEOPLE NEVER USE THIS FLIGHT SERVICE if they are having luggages with them.

My both brand new trolley bags were carelessly handled and the bags I collected from the airport were not in a position to be used.

There were no wheels on one of the bags and the supporting leg of the other bag was broken.

I had to face big difficulty in dragging those bags as one was not in the position to roll on wheels and another one which could move, could not stand alone because of broken leg.

Full story is as follows:

I visited India on this Diwali and was coming back to South Africa from Mumbai on 12th Nov’ 2006 night. While coming to Mumbai, I had some work in Pune so booked the flight to Pune from New Delhi by Spicejet (flight # 217) on 11th Nov’ 06, starting at 1500hrs from Delhi (PNR# DCPTBD).

First of all Spicejet charged me money for overweight of luggage even though I was not having any cabin bag and my total luggage weight was equal to the sum of weight limit of Check-In and Cabin luggage. Well, no issues in that as that may be the company’s policy.

But real horror was when I took my baggage from Pune Airport. As I wrote earlier, wheels of one of my bag were gone and supporting leg of another was broken.

The pain was that both of the bags were brand new, one was Samsonite 60 cm which I bought from South Africa and it costed me R 999 (South African currency equivalent to Rs. 6500) , and another one VIP 55 cm which was bought from India was worth Rs. 4000 (both were trolley bags).

Do not know how they broke it whether they wrestled with bags or threw like garbage or what. But I had to face a lot of trouble because of this.Thank god, there were no precious items in the luggage otherwise god knows what would have happened to those.

When I asked the airport staff for manager, guy said that he is on flight. Later when I asked for complaint register, he was reluctant in giving the register to me as well.

After pressurising him, I got the register and then I lodged a complaint in it. Receipt # 674 was given to me.

Now an apology mail has come to me from Spicejet and no action has been taken so far. I was told that the company does not take responsibility of any damage to luggage. I could not understand that why are they handling the luggage if they are not responsible?

So, PEOPLE SHOULD GET AWARE OF THE SPICEJET AIRWAYS AND OPT FOR ANY OTHER FLIGHT SERVICE IF THEY ARE HAVING ANY LUGGAGE WITH THEM.
