This might not actually qualify as a complete review since I've barely spent 4-5 hours with the new Spice Coolpad2 mi-496. Considering the Spice branding, I suppose a lot of people would rather shy away from their products. But given that almost ALL phones are made in China, with only superficial branding done on them, its all about who understands the market.

Heading back to phone now. It has a Crisp clear 4.5" screen that's extremely easy to adapt to, and very good touch sensitivity. The phone has a 1GB RAM space which is sufficient for most regular users except maybe gamers. It also has 1.6 GB internal space which is used to install apps etc on your phone.

I suppose I'll know more about the battery life once I've spent an entire day using it, but the provided Power Saver app does help. The phone comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2, and after having used Gingerbread, and ICS, I think JellyBean is here for good.

I've also had the opportunity to compare the phone with a Karbonn A21. No match. The Karbonn feels sluggish and the extra cores and RAM do make a difference on the Coolpad2.

Update :

Pros :

-Battery seems to be quite sufficient for a regular work day consisting of 5-10 phone calls, 3-4 Text Messages, an hour of surfing and Apps running.

-DTS sound enhancements! A big plus from a budget phone.

-HD videos playing brilliantly

-The 5 Megapixel Camera is quite decent for regular shots.

-A clever feature in the File manager is the "FTP Server" which allows you to connect any Laptop/PC on the same Wifi Network to access the phone's internal storage using FTP.

-The phone comes with NQ Mobile Security, which is pretty effective without slowing the phone down.

Cons :

Inability to move Installed apps to external SD card. The phone by default only allows you to move Apps onto the internal SD card consisting of 1.6GB space. This is certainly sufficient for basic users since you can store other data like music, etc. on the external SD card but for advanced users who might find the Internal storage space a bit tiny, its an important step backwards.

The phone feels heavier than similarly sized phones even though the battery isn't large. Its probably because of the chrome borders around the phone.

No compatible accessories available in the market. No compatible screen guards are available though you can trim the screen guard meant for the Karbonn A21 for use on this phone. If you're thinking of getting a flip cover, you're out of luck!

All in all : It's a brilliant device that will raise eyebrows! For a price of Rs.7999/- it's a steal. If you're ok with the branding that is
