Slim and lightweight! :). Review on SonyEricsson W910i

I am in a unique position to write this review as I also owned an iphone. Since that was also a music phone and of the same cost, it is a direct competitor. Wouldn't you like to know which phone is better.? then read on!

The w910i is smaller than the iphone. however, its about the same thickness. So in my pocket atleast, both the phones fit just as well. In terms of style this phone does very well. You slide it open, then you can slam it back on the side of your pants and slipe it into your pocket. There can be lots of variation to this. be imaginative.

If you spend a lot just for designer jeans then you might as well spend some money on a phone that has style.

Apart from that it has an excellent music player. It comes with 4GB md stick which is suprisingly tiny. You can connect this to a USB adapter and it works as a mass storage device. To listen to songs you simply paste some songs into the stick. The sound quality wins over the first generation iphone as this has an equalizer.

However try finding your songs on this phone, it take ages to get the right song that you want. In the iphone you simply scroll and look for the song as its thier in alphabetical order. The songs on w910i are also in alphabetical order but the screen is much smaller so you see fewer songs at once. Who wants to manually scroll through 500 songs on this phone? anyone.? So if you know the name of the song you want then its easy to find in the w910i.

The random selection feature is quite usefull. You hold the key and shake the phone and it randomly selects a song for you. the phone is much lighter than the iphone, some might consider that as an advantage. A lot of the weight of the iphone is becuase of the aluminium back to protect the phone.

The original headphones that come with the phone cause a pain in your ear as they go deep within. For this reason I am using the iphone headphones. You can also connect this phone to the car stereo or home stereo if you have the proper cable( the one that has a headphone jack on both ends).

So does this phone win over the iphone? haha, not a chance. The iphone is much too quick, too feature rich for this phone. For example if you are listening to music on the w910i any other task you do will slow down. This is becuase this phone dosen't have much processing capability. On the other hand the iphone is great for multitasking, you don't even feel you have two programs running, thanks to OS X, MAC operating system.

Now lets go to another very important factor on a phone. Who carry's thier camera around with them whereever they go? not many. thats why its great having a decent camera on your phone. However, the camera on this phone is not decent. It's about as good as a 6 year old nokia phone. Although both the iphone and w910i have a 2 megapixel camera, the camera on the iphone is kilometers ahead of the sony.

Perhaps its compensation for such a slim design. The difference between the sony and iphone is that the sony has an actual keypad. Therefore, it is much easier to sms on this phone.

If you really want to get a phone for rs 18 000, I suggest you wait untill the iphone 3g comes out. Another option is to purchase the iphone 1st generation from the grey market if it still sells. You might be able to get a discount there.

The conclusion is that nothing so far can beat the iphone!:P
