The Xperia Z5 Premium, from Sony, was unveiled at a Sony press event at IFA Berlin on September 2nd, 2015.

The phone runs on the Android operating system, which is currently the most popular platform on the market. Given that the phone is only a year old, it should be able to run the most recent apps and software just fine.

Camera Rating: A

The Xperia Z5 Premium has a 23 megapixel rear(primary) camera, which will take extremely high resolution photos. Its 5 megapixel front camera makes it a good selfie phone. It can capture 4K high definition video with its primary camera, the highest resolution current smartphones support.

The camera's max lens aperture size on the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is about average for smartphones. This isn't a huge factor, but some photo enthusiasts may prefer larger apertures for shallow depth of field photos, or fast action shots.

Display Rating: A+

The Xperia Z5 Premium has a 5.5 inch display, which is a little larger than an average phone released in 2015. Because its screen is over 5.3 inches, this phone also qualifies as a phablet. This also means that for most users, the phone will be difficult to use with one hand when compared to phones with smaller screens.

Display sharpness can be measured in the density of pixels per square inch of screen, and at 806 PPI, it's 3 times sharper than the average phone released in the past 12 months.

Battery Life

In terms of battery capacity, which is the actual electric charge the battery holds, this phone can hold 3, 430 mAh, a massive battery capacity for a smartphone released in 2015.

Thinner Than Most with a Very Heavy Body

The phone's metal body is 154.40 mm high, 76.00 mm wide, and has a depth of 7.80 mm, 12% thinner than the average smartphone released in the last 12 months. In fact, it's thin enough to have a case and still be thinner than an average phone.

With a weight of 181 grams, it's much heavier than most smartphones its size. The extra mass is due to this phone's massive battery for its size.

This phone is also rugged - it's dustproof, water resistant, and waterproof.

Processor and Memory

The Xperia Z5 Premium houses an octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 system on a chip. Its CPU runs at 2 GHz, which is much higher than average for a smartphone processor.

With 3 GB of RAM, the Xperia Z5 Premium has much more memory than other phones released in the past year.

Large Storage Capabililties

The base model of the Xperia Z5 Premium has 32 GB of internal storage, making it a solid choice for storing a moderate amount of media among phones released in 2015. If 32 GB isn't enough, there are other size options, or you can increase its storage an additional 200 GB with a microSD card.
