Sony Z series has been popular among Indian consumers for a long time.Right from launching Sony Xperia Z1, which created a buzz in the Indian market. It was well designed and had a decent specification at that time and Sony carried out the line up of Z series this year by launching Sony Xperia Z premium. It made the headline that it is the first phone to come with 4K display.First of all we will look at the key features of this phone:

Key Features:

-

1)Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU.

2)3GB of RAM.

3)5.5 inch UHD IPS LCD display with 3840x2160 resolution at 806ppi.

4)32GB of built in storage and a micro-SD card support.

5)Android Lollipop with Xperia UI on top.

6)3, 430 mAh non-removable battery.

7)23MP primary camera with dual tone LED flash and a 5.1 MP front camera.

8)IP68 certified-dust and water resistant up to 1.5 meter.

9)Fingerprint Sensor.

10)Triluminos technology display with scratch resistant glass.

Disadvantages:

-

1)Non-User replaceable battery.

2)NO IR blaster support.

3)4K available only for multimedia content.

4)No wireless charging .

Real time experience:

-

1)First of all in performance department, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB RAM.It performs decently when you are using less apps and running web browser for small period of time. But when you are using this for multitasking or intensive gaming continuously more than half hour due to the glass back it heats up tremendously  and it is very tough to use.

2)Battery life, it comes with a non removable 3, 430 mAh battery. The battery life is very poor, it is needed charge twice daily as it comes with a Ultra High Definition Display, the battery drain rather very quickly than expected.

3)At this price point the competitors are offering 4GB ram where as it has only 3GB of ram and the ram management is not good, you will only get 900 MB to 1GB RAM free.

4)Though it is launched in 2016, it comes with a older version of processor of Snapdragon 810 where as its competitors are using new generation chip set the Snapdragon 820 which is more powerful.

5)There is no significant change in the design department comparing with the older versions of the Sony Xperia Z series.

6)The location of the Fingerprint sensor is odd which makes it very difficult to use.

7)Though it says it comes with UHD display, but the reality is something different, the 4K is available only for multimedia content and most of the apps is rendered in 1080p.

Conclusion:

-

The Sony Xperia Z premium has launched the phone in India in 2016 but with the specification it offers it looks that Sony made it late to come . As this product would be very good if it had launched in 2015 apart from the UHD feature it fails in all the department as I have described  above briefly. So I would not recommend this  product to any one at this hefty price tag, there are rather better option at this price.
