Video games have been my necessity from time I set my eyes on a TV video game way back in the dark dark ages.....This was an arcade game calle asteroids , which involved shooting moving spaceships. At that time of course , this was the ultimate in gaming experience. I had a samurai, TV video game which connected to my TV and I would spend a lot of time playing around with it.
Time flew away and I set my eyes on the Sony PS2 around a year and a half ago. Needless to say the gaming experience was a little different!!!!!
This baby supports DTS sound and can play back DVD's and music Cd' along with the exclusive games made for the PS2. The games, mind blowing. From WWF to the matrix to the best cricket game I have ever played, everything is available on the PS2 genre of games.
Of course the games are priced at a very exhribitant rate and most of us may not be able to buy 4 - 5 games a month ( each of these are around 1500- 2000 rs a game), but piracy has started playing a role in this also and more and more pirated games are available at 10% of the original. Of course officially I am against pirated software and CDs but....... ;-) Again, you will need to put in a mod chip for these games to work. ( sold Separately)
The one thing that is an absloute must for this is a good tv. I have a 35 Inch Sony Wega and the sound and picture quality rendered by the PS2 literally does not let you take your eyes away from the TV.
Playing DVD's can be considered an added feature , but nothing more. somtimes there is a problem that the PS2 does not recognise the dvd and we need to prss the reset button a couple of times for it to recognise. Moreover , I was not able to get it to work for Video cd's which is definitely a downer . Mp3 support is also not there for the PS2 :-(
All in all , if you want a gaming console that also plays DVDs this is the answer to your problems. If you are a gaming freak than this is for you, other wise you always can buy my old samurai tv video game :-)
