Sony – Museum of World Class Products. Yes at least im proud to be a owner of a small Sony product. Sony B Series iPod’s were pretty famous and though they were tiny in size they produce amazing Music. As im an avid music listener I wanted to choose the best in the market within my budget. My budget was around 2500-3000 only. But still there were plenty of options for me to choose. I went to croma with my budget and came out with this iPod after 3 hours of testing.
What made me to choose this?
For my budget there were nearly 4 options for me. Apple, Sony, Philips and Transcend. With looks itself Transcend was out of my mind. Started with Philips, grip was good having a tiny display and good sound quality. After that it’s time for Sony iPod to be in my hands, design of the iPod was very innovative unlike others with good placement of buttons and looks. Apple was very good with square shaped design and circled buttons. So I was finally struck with Apple and Sony.
Why Sony? Why not Apple?
Well I have so many reasons to conclude that Sony is better option than Apple within this Range.
Sound Quality: I know you all people will scold me if I say Sony is better than Apple here:D, yes even I agree that apple is a bit ahead in sound quality. But the point made me to choose is that Sony has got a BASS Button which really amazed me. Though sound was very clear and pure in apple I couldn’t found enough bass, which was my important requirement. So I want to TIE this Section.
Ease of Use: Major factor to be considered. Using of a product always plays a vital role, if a user is not satisfied after buying a product 65% of research says that it’s because of Mode of Use. Here in this case I vote up for Sony, let me explain my strong reasons. Sony has got a 3 line CRT display, where we can browse all files, playlist, settings etc… where Apple has totally failed with no Display. Another major thing to be considered is Music Transfer. Again apple disappointed me, it always requires iTunes software to transfer or to delete music files in iPod.(Requires lot of time) where as Sony gives us Plug n Play option, just connect to PC like a pen drive drag and drop the files or delete the files directly. But the clip provided for Apple was good enough to pin to shirt, but still a minor thing. So Clearly Sony Wins in this Section.
Storage Capacity: As my budget was only 2500-3000, I should not expect more storage. But still Sony impressed me. Apple iPod was priced around 3100 for 2GB. Whereas mine was priced around 2850 that too it was 4GB. Sony has got 2GB version also priced at 2300. So I opted for 4GB version, Again Sony had its domination in this Section too. (Sony Wins)
Miscellaneous: Still there’s a lot left to describe this amazing product, I want to mention a few here. Zipper was a cool option provided in Sony – it plays a preview part of a song(10-15 seconds) continuously and keeps tracks shuffling. With this tiny Gadget you can even Record Voice of yours or others, finally who doesn’t love FM Radio? Yes this iPod is equipped with FM Radio also. All these functions or at least like similar features were not available in Apple iPod. Again Sony Wins.
Battery Backup: Can you believe that this iPod gives me continuous 25-30 Hours of backup? Even Without a single pause! Yes with my usage it comes around 2-3 days and Sony has a great option of quick charge(3mins charge – 3 hours of Playback) though it takes around 4-5 hours of full charge.
Conclusion: if you are planning to buy an budget iPod, blindly go with Sony iPod. Trust me guys you never regret your decision, and this product is totally worth your money, in fact it’s more. The only Cons I can mention is that the Earphones provided were OK type and were not that comfortable in ears, but still I managed with Skullcandy Earphones after sometime.
