I guess I can only be a critic because im too good at finding faults. Anyways, Just a few days back I sent back the new Panasonic TV, due to some similar faults (I got a review on that one too). And since I wanted a TV with a subwoofer I payed more and went for Sony KV-XR29M83. Sony... Sounds good doesnt it ? Well, All my life I have never seen cooperation from sony support. Lets go one by one.. Picture- Picture is good, but I noticed that the reception is not so good.

Probably it requires a higher signal. Cause many channels arent distinctly visible and most come grainy which was not the case with the Panasonic which was there in its place just hours before. And my Cable guy says everythings perfect since few channels are coming clear(for him)but for me I see alot of grains). Audio- If you love sound like I do. Sony does not emphasise on treble clarity much. Since its a TV and not a stereo (says the demo guy who came to give me demo). So basically Music channel fans.. You'll not like the audio clarity much, thought the woofing isnt bad. Remote - Dirty looking remote. Perception of looks is different for all so leave that. But the Reverse SWAP button is strange. It doesnt work like it has been working in all TV's since so many years.

You actually have to wait 7 secs. after changing the channel, then only can you make use of the SWAP. or else it will go back to one particular channel all the time. Basically you get stuck. Their Technicians did not know about this. Infact I went to Sony world the other day and the guy started playing with the buttons because he did not understand what was going on. :-) Thats Sony Support Now the Most Problem Part... Most of the buyers of TV's have not noticed this particular problem in their TV's and Im surprised.

This problem was noticed first in the Panasonic majorly and now somewhat in the sony. When youre watching TV and you have the bass high and a volume a bit high. And theres a light background. You will see greyish waterfall kind of waves dancing to the bass of the sound. Its very much distracting once you become aware of it. And loud sound will make you aware of it. Now for this problem I called sony. 1 engineer agrees to the problem , sends a senior engineer. He tells me its a cable problem. Then I proved it to him. Asked him thrice if he understood the problem, he said yes.

Two days later I get a call from sony service. '' Sir our engineers came to your place and their view is that there is not problem with the TV. And its a problem with the cable. How frustrating can it be. I called up the dealer (very cooperation).. Dealer called sony service. Got the same crap. Dealer argued on my behalf. They asked to send the TV to sony and that they would show me that its a cable problem. I challenged them. I proved it to them, showed the problem without cable wire connected(Procedure below). I was so surprised that the engineers are saying that this problem you will find in all the TVs .. its because of the big screen. Ball talks. He said its because of the subwoofer. I said remove the subwoofer. They removed it and unplugged the wire of the subwoofer. Still the problem stayed.

Basically the problem has no genuine answer. They had just come to convince a customer. Procedure for testing any TV for this problem - Give a white input signal to the tv through the video input and connect an audio cd player to the audio inputs. And then play the cd loud. and you will see the problem so clearly that no one in the world can deny. My video input signal was from a Sony digital picture camera with a white blank picture that I clicked. Support people dont talk to dealers properly, so customers are in a bigger soup. When it comes to Sony. Support is so unreliable that they literally lie. Ultimately the engineers said that they will pass on the problem to sony company and wait for their response. Lets see what solution Sony gives me. Sony ? Naaaaaaahhhhh i'd rather spend 10k less and get a another TV and buy myself a DVD Player instead. Why spend more when you get more features for less. Just Brand Bullshit ?
