Excellent Music Phone. Review on Sony Ericsson w580i

I bought this phone last march(2008) and I have successfully completed 1 full year and phone is doing great till now.

I'm a music lover and I was looking for a good music phone around 10k, i shortlisted sony which is always known for its sound quality and zeroed in on w580i which was latest entrant in walkman series.

Advatages: Music:music is usp of this phone since it comes under walkman series, it never fails to disappoint in this category.sound quality is awesome with excellent bass reflex.the music player is a breeze to use.

Shake control: a first of its kind feature which allows u to change a song just with a shake.u can do this even if the phone is in powersaving mode with keys locked.

Camera:the camera is pretty basic with no auto focus and flash but the image clarity is excellent in daylight.

Looks:with the stylish slider and excellent side lights this is the best looking phone in its class, in my opinion.

Pedometer:the built in pedometer can count no of steps u walk or run in a particular duration.very helpful for fitness freaks.

Disadvantages:

The main disadvantage is the key pad is very fragile and can easily break on rough use, which makes it a 'no-no' for heavy sms users. The headset/charger socket is very delicate and becomes loose contact after a period of time.u have to slightly adjust everytime till the sound output is good.

*General points:

*battery is neither too good nor worse.it will last little over 1 day if u hear music/talk extensively otherwise will last for 2 full days. Loudspeaker sound output is good but too much of use will drain the battery quickly. Slider function works like a breeze.no issues here. Volume during calls is bit low, its sometimes difficult to hear in crowded locations.my advice use headset at those times to answer calls.

Java OS:

Java os is not as advanced as symbion as in nokia meaning you cant install high end applications, but on the flip side the phone rarely hangs and rarely prone to virus attacks.the phone's response is pretty fast even if its loaded with full 2 gb memory card

Verdict:

If you are looking a for good stylish music phone with good quality camera and not a rigorous SMS user, this phone is best buy for you.
