Okay, so there are a lot of cons to the X1, agreed, but there is also so much to love!

So for those who love the X1, here are a few must do's:

  1. Update the firmware at the first chance you get.

  2. Download the xperiatweak application immediately, since it helps clean up a lot of the usual issues such as fixing a panel as default startup and disabling the conversation style SMS(which I frankly like.)

  3. Make sure that you have a warranty on the X1, don't even think of buying this device in grey, as with any other SE device, right from my T630 to my P990 to the X1, the hardware has a way of slowly acting up, like I had to change my Panel button because it stopped working.

  4. Download the India map for your Wayfinder application, because it is one of the few phones which have a working turn by turn navigation working, which now the Motorola Milestone has as well.

  5. Backup your contacts onto your laptop(which has to be Windows, because unlike the P990, there is no plugin for iSync for WindowsMobile), as Windows Mobile doesn't have a backup to memory option.

  6. Change the camera mode to Sports since otherwise the pictures have too much jitter.

  7. Keep a dual sim phone handy in case the battery finishes up early.

I love using the X1 as a laptop replacement since the Opera browser is really awesome, way better than the Safari browser on the iPhone. The IE browser is great when you want to browse text only, like with Gmail and Netvibes. The Office suite works great, especially with docx and pptx formats. I love browsing PPTs on the fly.Facebook app is a great download.

Try using the X1 without the SIM card when you want to try working without your laptop and use the X1 for reviewing documents.
