I had a nokia 3230 prior to owning w550i and believe me nokia is ages behind in terms of techonology .
I wanted to buy this phone for a long time and once my nokia 3230 stopped producing sound I decided say good bye to nokia and went on phone hunting.I had just thin landed in mumbai from london and some one told me that alpha is a good place in mumbai so I went and checked out the price which to my surprise ws 11300 INR and I immediately picked it up even without thinking what was I buying.However I got a good deal I got all probable cables and a spare set of covers .
It was when I started using the phone I reliased how feature rich the phone was and techonologically light years ahead of nokia.
1)W550 I as a phone it is a phone to it does all the things a normal phone can do and initially I had a bit of hesitation for buying it as I had to rotate it to punch in numbers ,during its use from past few months I have reliased that we actually dont punch in numbers very often.The menu is very good ,responsive and user friendly.games are also good and I think we can download much more on internet.
2)W550 I as a camera .It takes good pics for its 1.3 megapixel camera is far superior to nokias 1.3 megapixel ones.It has some modes like panaramic modes which come in handy when taking pictures,video camera too is pretty good and produces some great reasults.
3)W550 I as a Ipod .Walkman is one thing I have used the most and the sound quality is amazing .the ear phones bundelled with are good and give crystal clard sound and secondly unlike ipod earplugs these donot pain in the ear during prolong usage.It is worth mentioning here that you can hear the songs for hrs and hrs ( I have personally recorded the time for 11 hrs and got fed up that the battery did not discharge and gave up)with out recharge battery is amazing.On loud speakers the battery comes for around 3 hrs.FM clarity is good and some good features which are there is you can as the phone to autostore the stations once you go into new location.So I have forgotton that some thing called I pod even exists.
Build and make of w550i makes it look like an up market phone ,even the cables are of good quality.I am enjoying using this phone and I am also using it as car stero in my car.
