I Bought my SE k810i from Ezone, Bangalore in April 2009. Performance of the phone was very good and as I was using a Nokia phone before this, it required some time to get used to the navigation and soft keys.
Once settled, using this phone is more than just pleasure... I have been using Nokia N73 some time before and compared to that this phone has lots of goodies. N73 has its own class so I am not comparing this phone to that, but in a user perspective this is having good features, for example, N73 required an third party software to get the functionality of auto-keygaurd, but k810i is having it by itself.
Even some day to day utilities like repeating alarms, task etc K810i has it own app. I had a bad experience with n73 which used to get heated once I charge the phone, but this phone is cool, no issues.
Now coming to the features, sound quality is more than average, Signal reception is good. This model is having the best music player and radio, true sony's quality is visible when the sound is heard using oem head phones. I am really impressed.
So Basic functionality of Phone and music player/radio is well addressed and are above average.The features are not over, now comes the interesting part.....
Camera 3.2pixels with lots of features including xenon flash/night mode focus assisst red ligt etc.
It is truely awesome to use the camera, while hunting for the focus itself one can adjust the exposure lighthing also it can be used in a manual mode, and after shooting there are edit features which will make this phone a true digicam.
You know what, this camera/phone can be used to take Panoramic shoot of 3 frames and is more than enough if you go for a trip, no need to carry a separate camera.. I myself had tried some of the features of this camera during my recent trip and the results were comparable to normal Digital cameras.
Battery Life is also of average as a full recharge can take you to 2-3 days and 10-20 shots.
Now coming to the darker side....
with only 5 months of usage / 37hrs of usage the key foil got damaged and required to be replaced. This is bad, really bad how can a product from sony can have such a faulty part?
I went to 3-4 service centers of sony in bangalore and every one has the same answer " Sorry sir, we do not have the stock of k810i key foils, so many phones are pending with us because of this issue"
I was really surprised to know this and I did not read from any review sites or forums that this phone is have such a manufacturing defect, the key foil comes default with the phone is having issues and is suspect-able to break down any time and required to be replaced.Bad... this too bad. Finally after one month of search I got replaced from SE service center in cunnigham road. Now things are fine..Good for now.
I have been truely disappointed with the sony service center's approach , they will just make you wait.. I had to wait nearly two hours to give the phone to service....? what type of service is this ? They are behaving like we got this phone for free..Pathethic.
So far so good...
One more important thing.... There is some thing called water indicator on the motherboard of the phone, if you SE phone falls into water and water reachs the motherboard... you are gone.. the water indicator turns red and you will not get the warranty service from any where..you have to pay for the entire service...OMG, I was lucky.. I came to know when I was at the service center.. So be careful and keep your SE mobile safe..
Last line: I love my Sony Ericsson phone!!!
