Hey guys,

This time a Mobile review. I got a new handset few days back, Sony Ericson K750I. And I am happy to say that I am one among the first few buyers who bought this cell phone. Coz it got released in Bangalore few days back and I bought it the day it was out in the market Paid 21,000 Rs for this Gadget but I think it is worth the money.

Well let me come to the description of the cell phone. Sony Ericson K750 I..... You name it it has got... it is as simple as that.

Here are the features of this phone.

Memory Stick Duo Pro, 64 MB card included

38 MB shared memory

GPRS Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots)

SMS, EMS, MMS, Email, Instant Messaging

Infrared port

Camera 2 Mega Pixel, 1632x1224 pixels, autofocus, video with flash

Bluetooth

MP3/AAC player

Video player

WAP 2.0

Java MIDP 2.0

FM radio with RDS

Image viewer

Picture editor

Organiser

Voice memo

USB port

SyncML

Built-in handsfree

The Package comes with the following items:

Handset,Battery Charger,Manual,USB-cable,64 MB memory card,Stereo headset,CD with software

Dimensions: The dimensions of the K750 are quite comfortable (100 x 46 x 19.5 mm, 99 grams) but it's really amazing how it could fit so many AWESOME features.

Resolution: It has the resolution of 176x220 pixels (28x36 mm) showing up to 262K (TFT) colors. But I dont think you would see any major difference between 65K and 262K colors on the screen. The display belongs to its own Class. The picture fades in the sun, but text remains readable. To be frank, small font-size prevents from seeing all the necessary details sometimes but this doesn't concern SMS and names in a phonebook.

Keypad: The keypad is of plastic. Working with the keypad is of okay for me as I do not use the phone much for SMSing. :-) The backlighting is white and well seen in various conditions.

Accessories: Though limitation was put on the phone size, but a USB cable provided in the kit is longgg. The memory slot supports Up to 4 GB of memory.

  • A 64 MB memory card is included in the kit, and that is a necessary minimum to add to the internal memory. The Internal memory is about 30 MB , which is enough for almost all the operations.

  • A flash and an active shutter covering the camera lens can be seen on the back panel. Opening the shutter activates the camera, now you can hold the phone horizontally and take photos.

  • There is a 900 mAh Li-Pon battery. According to the manufacturer, it is capable of working for up to 400 hours in the standby mode and up to 9 hours of talks. But I have used the Phone for 2 and a half days after first charge and I believe the phone would come for more than 3 days once I settle with the phone( Once I stop fiddling with the phone).

Phone book: Up to 500 names with all the fields filled in are supported.

Messages: All functions are basic for messages; templates and ability to create your own ones are present. Chat function is supported, The features for messaging are almost same as for the other phones.

Connectivity: You have WAP,IR port,Bluetooth.

Radio: The phone has a built-in FM Radio. The stereo headset that is sent in every package acts as an antenna. Sound quality of the Radio is AWESOME (Both MP3 as well as Radio)

Camera: The Phone comes with an ''AWESOMELY'' clear 2 MP camera with a CMOS matrix. This phone is the first one to have a 2MP camera in India. Another Interesting feature of this phone is the presence of an autofocus, just the way you have it in higher end digital or SLR cameras. It works for any distance including the Macromode. The device supports three possible resolutions - 1632x1224, 640x480, 160x120 pixels. Two types of data compression, Normal and Fine, are present.

The camera settings look the following way:

Automatic camera off: When not used the camera turns off automatically in 30 seconds, 1, 2 or 3 minutes.

White balance: A possibility to choose between an automatic mode or Incandescent, Fluorescent, Daylight, Cloudy. Effects: Several effects may be applied to the photos, like Negative, Solarize, Sepia, Black & White.

Timer is activated for a certain time period for self shooting.

Night mode is for shooting in the dark.

I tell you guys, the camera and its options are just like the way you get it in a typical digital camera!! Flash is so powerful. You could take a clear picture at night.

Video: Video may be recorded in two resolutions (176x144, 128x96), file format is 3GP. Clip duration may be limited (For MMS - up to 10 seconds) or unlimited. I have recorded many clips now of various length(from 10 seconds upto 7 min), no problem at all. By default the clips would be stored in Memory stick.

The only thing that I think is a drawback is, the display light remains on through out the length of your talking.... that might eat up the battery. I dont know whether all sony ericson phones have this feature.

But as of now, the Battery Backup is slightly more than 3 days once fully charged. But once I stop fiddling with it, I might get a little more out of that battery.

This is what I have tested in my new handset. If anything else I notice then definitely I would update you folks. I think this cell phone is worth of it's price considering the features that it has got.

Latest Updates(June 27th,05)

Well, as I told, I am here again to update you folks that there might be a small issue with this product, I am not sure though.

Recently when I was viewing the pictures that I tool from my camera, the phone hung, I had to take out the battery to start it again. I did not take it seriously. So did not update you guys, however when I read about the bugs that might be present in the software in one of the article , I thought hanging up of the phone might have happened due to the bug. But I am not sure. I havent come across it again of late. My fingers are crossed

Latest updates(July 18th,05):

Well, I would say, now I have settled with my Handset wonderfully well (no more fiddling with it!). So here are the details:

Battery Backup: On an average 3 and half days of battery.( I talk a lot on phone, mostly outgoing!)

Hanging issue: Yes, mostly this is the one you are waiting for... Well, I have not had any hiccups off late... No hangings at all till now after that incident that I have mentioned above.

Latest news

They have come up with a different version of the software. My brother has the same set and his software is bit different.. so I guess, they have taken care of the bugs that were reported to be present!
