I am a Sony-Ericsson fan and have used K500i for 3years before I bought this one. So, when it came to buying a new cell, my search was limited to only SE. K550i with the stunning mix of features is a real bargain but is suprisingly not so popular with the masses. Now lets get down to the details:
Camera:
A 2.0 MP camera and gives nice shots. But its no competition to the digital cameras with 5-7 MP capacities. Pictures taken in dim light are slightly grainy. Flash light is an LED which also doubles up as battery and not of good quality. The lens shutter with a sensor is a nice addition.
Music Player:
Comes with the standard and popular music player that's common with the W series. But minus the mega-bass function. But I can live without it. The head-phones are a let-down. It would become a great music player with 2MB card and Walk-man/Bluetooth head-phones.
Games:
Java-enabled phone. So, all the java games and applcations work well. It can also store the installation files(.jar) and send it to other phones through Bluetooth. The screen-size(176x220) is restrictive.
Connectivity:
Good connectivity as it has Infrared and Bluetooth. Works well with SE, Nokia, Samsung and LG.
Key-pad:
It takes slightly getting used to as the buttons are very-very slim. But once you are comfortable, you will love it. I would recommend using the phone for 5 minutes to check whether you are comfortable with the key-pad.
Phone:
The most important thing! How does it work as a cell-phone?
It has decent battery-life and nice reception. Hoowever, I have face a problem when I miss receiving a call. The phone simply shuts down. You have to power it up again and it works as if nothing went wrong. Absolutely no other problem faced in the last one-year of usage.
Conclusion:
I faced one slight problem when it came to phone operation but otherwise its a great buy at the price. All features are present, but may be curtailed.
Sound-processor is of high quality but headphones are mediocre.
Camera has the features of cyber-shot but is only 2 MP.
Games work smoothly but screen-size is low.
This phone is for price-consious buyers like me who do not like to carry a cell-phone worth an entire salary in their pocket!
