First of all I would like to say that I do not own the k750i but I have used it as much as a person who owns it will use. Imagine a phone that costs half less than the newbies from motorola and the nokia n -series but with twice the features. That is Sony ericsson K750i for you.
The phone was relesed in 2005 but still the sales record is proof enough that the phone is a mega hit. It is discouraging the Sony guys to stop production because of this titanic response.
Reasons for its success -
The first and most important reason was the Award winning benchmark creating camera module which is still unparalleled. Camera shutter unlike many mobiles from the motorola and nokia stable. Horizontal camera menu just like in digital cameras. Decent LED flashlight for low light shots
Very nice FM radio with RDS. Good media player that plays an array of file formats and decent video playback
Super sound quality both in loudspeaker and in the handsfree kit. Easily Customisable with options to set startup screen, animated wallpaper as the desktop background, screensavers, support for themes (half a million themes are available in sites like zedge and esato)Good battery backup and call quality. Support for memory cards of upto 1gb. The memory cards cost around Rs.700/- for 1gb
All this for a meager Rs.8000/- in India. Reasons for its eventual drop in sales by the end of the year (and obtaining the status of a Legend) - Does not have a impressive video player No support for video ringtonesNo support for Adobe Flash files. No Stereo Bluetooth support. Slower USB. Out of date browser. No RSS Reader
Smaller display screen when compared to the latest models. Poor Joystick which has been a major desing flaw from the beginning
Overall what you expect from is available and a little more too. This is the best if all you want is a multimedia . Mind you its got the best in class camera. So go ahead and get it. It will reign supreme for a few more months.
