I am writing this review about bluray movies here as mouthshut does not have a category on bluray movies.I have a sony laptop Sony VAIO AR69GU, which has bluray reader & writer.First of all for those of us who dont know what is bluray:
Bluray is a format of storing information on discs where the images are in High Definition quality.High definition is resolution of about 1900x1200(1080dp).Bluray format is owned by sony.
Recently bluray movies are available in India too. Although there are many movies in bluray format in US, only some are available in India. Bluray discs are region coded to prevent piracy.And so we have to purchase bluray discs in India to play with players available in India. India is in region 'C'.
Strangely the bluray discs available in India are 'All Region', meaning any BR player is able to play them!!!.Regarding the experience of watching the BR movies- it should be seen to believe.I recently bought 'Matrix' and 'I am legend' movies.I could not believe the clarity of images. Faces are so clear you think as you are seeing them directly with a 200w bulb focusing directly on the face and you are just inches away from them!!!!!!.
Also colours are so vivid and rich. Sound quality is good too.Bluray discs also have other features, like: in movie experience, alternate versions, multiple language subtities, multiple language audio, dolby digital audio, commentary, trailers, critics describing the movie, behind the making of themovie, video songs of the movie etc.
So the BR discs give complete movie watching experience. For ex. in movie experience gives the actors' experience of acting in a particular scene along the movie!!.So one BR disc contains a lot of information- 40-50GB..........yes you read in right GB!!!!.So folks go ahead and watch movies in High Definition. You will never accept standard definiion as standard again!!!.Its technology of the fuuture......today.By the by one BR movie disc costs Rs 1300. So buy only movies which are worth the money.One place I know where you can get them is Planet M showrooms.
