I Purchased Sony DVP S560D DVD Player on July 16, 2000 at 09:56 PM PDT from Amazon.com, For 8 months the product worked fine. Then in March 2001 the trouble suddenly started when it began to give ''no disc'' error even when DVD disc is present in the DVD player.Since it was under warranty at that time I contacted the sony customer service. The customer service person at sony asked me to take it to a sony repair center nearby It was kept there for repairing and was returned to me after a week. For a while it seemed to be working ok. Then the trouble again started.

DVD player was not recognising DVD's or audio CD's and kept giving ''No disc'' error and if at all by chance it recognised a DVD then it would slip frames and freeze the picture after a while as a result of which I had to be content with some half watched movies. Again I contacted the Sony customer service, but this time the warranty period of 1 year parts and labor had got over as it was July 2001.I received letter from sony customer service which says sony can repair it only if I shell out $185.54 for the repair.

Since it had problems from the very first even before warranty expired I think this is very unfair. I did not pay $300 for this product so that it will last me for 8 months. I have used it as per the instructions manual and since this problem has occurred even after careful usage I would say that there is some manufacturing problem in this product for which reason it had such a short span of life. Checking out other websites I came across a site https://audioreview.com/reviews/DVD/product_47678.shtml where it is pretty clear that this product has manufactural defects as so many others have the same problems as me on using this product. One thing I have noticed is that all have the problems occur in Sony DVP S560D DVD Players about the time the warranty is getting over.

I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone.
