From the stream of entertainment , I put my hands in the electronics section. here I am going to review on the product CAMCODER SONY DCR SR42. This piece I brought it about 2-3months back. I have been very consistently using this for many purposes like for functions, trips and also for wildlife shooting at sanctuaries.
The model SR42 is not much different from SR100 . the only difference is megapixel and optical zomm. All other functionalities and behavours remains same.
Features available are :-

Easy Features - a) CamCoder station(stand) available which has all the accessories points like Powersupply, USB interface to PC, Connectivity to TV. b) One touch button compatible to CD burning c) 1.5hrs backup battery available with the pack d) Very much compact and very easy to carry and hold. e) SD card memory slot available for quick storage of still photos and could be transferred to PC.
My Experiences : -
When I decied to buy the camcoder I was bit confused with the type of model to buy especially with the types of storage formats like DVD, cassette and the latest is Hard Disc. As my comparisions I made was with these types Cassette Format lot of pain in converting it to the cD format, need to give to pjotoshop editor , who converts from Cassette to CD. DVD format - A very good feature but only 30 minutes of storage space available, costly DVD's , Theirs no option to edit/erase the frames as captured, Pain in changing the DVD's inbetween shooting as time to shoot would be small. With all these in mind I decide to go for thisHDD Format wherein theirs no restriction for shooting time upto 20hours can be recorded , all these would be available in the Hard DIsc , when ever time permits connect to PC and make the CD for backup, no pain in changing DVD's or Cassettes in between the recording, The only other investment is to do with the extra battery to keep with you , batteries available upto 20hours are also available in the market which are compatible with the handycam.
Next came in mind was the resolution and zoom features.The handycam can also be used to take still pictures. This handycam has about 0.8 megapixel of resolution of still images which is very poor for printable quality, I wanted the zoom to be more but was ready to compromise on the still images resolution, So this model was perfect from these features, For still images we could anyways goes for Digital Camera with high resolution like 3.2 or 5.1 mpp.With all these calculations in mind I choosed this model to buy andt his didnt disappoint me.
Regarding the holding or grip, this model is very light in wheight and has a good grip, only other extra investment one need to do is battery of more power to buy apart from the pack
My Furthur Analysis:-
Regarding the video quality its just amazing and also you could keep on shooting which stores the frames in the form of separate folders for every stop/start operations ie when you start the process to record till you stop it , this captured video would be available in the folder, wherein anytimne you could delete this shot, When you playback this plays continously in the manner of folder as stored.
And also some features are available to divide the shot into different pieces and then you could delete that piece for example : if you had shot teh sequence of some function and if you want to delete some naughty things shots you could divide the shot and delete it, means easily you could edit your shot and could be easily stored in the CD.You could also connect it to TV for playback all the necessary cables are provided in the pack.
Overall to sum up my review this model is just amazing with no more headaches on the cassettes and DVDs , gives you more free from tensions with the one time investments.
