I bought my first digital camera; Sony DSCP-72 digital camera last year September ('03). Buying a digital camera is not that easy now a days. There are lots of brands and models and many with features that you cant even believe a camera can have! The DSCP-72 boasts of some features over other cameras that keep it ahead of its range of competitors.
I hope my share of experience will be worth while for those who are looking out for a digital camera. I wanted to get over the realism of taking pictures on a film roll and stop wasting time going to photo store for film development. Not just time but also money.
In this day and age, computers are passe and almost everyone has some sort of a computer configuration at home or have access to the internet. Being a computer savvy person myself, I wanted to start living my life and capture moments Digitally rather than on paper. I went to the store and checked out lots of different brands and models. Checked out Kodak, Nikon, Olympus and the rest.
Then I finally looked at Sony. Not just different brands and models but sony too has a wide range of Digital camera models themselves. There are models ranging from Cybershot DSCP32 to DSCP10. The DSCP32 is a small, simple camera with Movie playback feature and no optical zoom. The DSCP52 looks a bit bulky. The DSCP-92 and DSCP10 are really high priced cameras with expert features. Since I am a beginner at Digital Cameras, I wanted something that is neither too low nor too high on features. Thats when I looked at the DSCP-72. A perfect blen of resolution and extra features.
Lets start off with the features of this camera. The camera is a 3.2 Mega Pixel with 3X Optical and 3X Digital Zoom. Mpeg Movie recording capability (NTSC and PAL). Stamina batteries for long photo shoots. USB terminal for computer connectivity. A/V cable for connecting to a TV, a battery charger and a 16MB memory stick media. I also went for the Accessories pack which includes a soft leather carrying case, an extra pair of batteries, a charger and the best of all an AC adapter to power the camera when batteries run low.
One good thing about Sony is that all their products are made globally compliant rather than regional. For example this sony camera came with a battery charger unit that was both 110V and 220V compliant. No matter what part of the world you are in you can use it and wont have to worry about converters or adapters. The DSCP72 boasts of movie recording capabilities that is limited only by the memory left in the memory stick unlike other brands that restrict movie recording upto 30 seconds max.
I also bought a 256 MB Memory stick and this comes in handy when shooting movies. I had taken some great pictures with this camera that boasts of a lot of professionalism, thanks to Sony. This is a great fun camera.
