After many years of owning the old 1990 Sony D-25 Discman, it was time for me to get a new one because I wanted a more longer playback hours to suit my needs in each activity I do. So I happened to stop by to Fry's Electronics, located in Southern California, and got this new Sony D-SJ01 for a cheap discontinued price for $99.90 plus tax. I was the last person to get it before it was actually gone. The regular price was $200 and I actually saved $100 from the high expensive price. Good thing I waited the last minute.
The reason I decided to purchase this Sony D-SJ01 was because it was the cheapest Made in Japan Sony CD Walkman in Sony's lineup. The look of the player is sporty and it looks great for both indoors and outdoors. It is very rugged with protective metal shield around it. Not like regular Sony and Panasonic portable CD players with plastics around it. It has 40 hours of playback time by using 2 AA alkaline batteries so I can listen to my music longer without worrying about dying batteries. One of the feature I like most is the G-Protection skip-free feature that recovers 10 times faster on shocks than ESP. In my opinion, G-Protection is the best skip-free protection in the market. So far, it has not skip on me yet.
The Sony D-SJ01 includes a variety of accessories such as hand strap, 2 AA rechargeable batteries, battery case, headphones, and AC adapter. It can recharge any 2 AA rechargeable batteries in turbo speed, which is a good thing because I only waited five hours and then it is full.
The buttons to play, stop, and search the tracks are on top of the player and they are often hard for me to push. The buttons are rather small. They are design for one hand operation by placing your hand in the carrying strap.
Anyway, hope that this Sony D-SJ01 will last long as my old 1990 Sony D-25 Discman, which is still running strong and trouble-free after 12 years. Hooray and excellent job for Sony! Go get one now because it is getting hard to find.
